First- I drove into a shady neighborhood. She brings the dog outside on the leash. I asked to go in her home and she wouldn't allow me. I asked to go into her backyard and she wouldn't allow me. Her uncle was the breeder, and her cousins have a lot of Marco's siblings. She was willing to just hand off her to dog to me right then and there without knowing ANYTHING about me.... you can't say that's right or normal. She also slipped at one point, when I asked if Marco had ever been in any fights and she said "Oh, no, he's great with my other dog." So she has another dog apparently?

I'm NOT saying it's "wrong" to ask for $500. I'm not accusing her of being a bad person simply because she's asking a large rehoming fee. I'm not even saying she's a bad person. I don't know where you're getting that. I don't feel comfortable with the way things were, as much as I loved the dog, and didn't like how she was willing to just give him to me right then and there and accept her check, not knowing where the hell he was going. I could have been lying about everything I said about Jackson and my life for all she knows.

Did you look at this rescue already? Rescue Me Yorkie RescueWe got our Maggie from them and they are very reputable. Their dogs are not on Petfinder, though...

Yes some of what you said does sound very fishy and personally wouldn't want to get involved either. But you said he looks like he was well groomed and cared for. Maybe she felt she didn't need to ask any more from what you had told her. Maybe she just cares if he goes to a good home and doesn't care to do a backround check and go the extra steps of following up or staying in touch. Some people just don't care. Not everyone is so caught up with their dogs like some of us. Things that may not be normal to us are normal to other people. You said it was a shady neighborhood, maybe thats just the kind of people they are. I just don't see how he would be vetted and look like hes been cared for good if he wasn't loved or if she didn't care at all for him.

Mainly I was arguging that the rehoming fee was not bad and worth it.

I've got a few I like but can't decide on one. For some reason, I tend to like more 'people' names, or even more last name-type names (Jackson,etc).

I've thought of Tanner, Parker, and Walker (as you can tell, all last names sort of, lol) It'd be cool to have another 'J' name but I can't find any I'm too fond of. Jasper is okay but sounds too close to Jackson, I think.

Jackson came about because of the Johnny Cash song 'Jackson' originally, and I'm also a Michael Jackson fan, so it just clicked and I immediately couldn't get the name out of my head when I saw his photo. I couldn't think of anymore MJ-related names, or Johnny Cash (not that I'm a big fan of JC or anything).

You are an amazing dog owner. You know your home situation, and your finances, if all there is good, then get that beautiful boy into your arms.

I had "buyers remorse" after finally, definitely getting Thor too. At first I was terrified his owner was going to keep him after all, and then when he was finally definitely mine, I was like, he's SO small... maybe I should have gotten a Rottweiller. Now of course I can't imagine my life without him!

I hear your concerns about the seller. However, you are such a great dog owner, I would not worry about about managing two dogs. You'll do great.

as far as names go, i don't like marco much either but think Marcus would be fabulous. its human like, strong, and distinguished name, like Jackson.

I do like Marcus, but unfortunately I knew a guy named that a few years back who I don't like! LOL. So, I can't think of him everytime I say my dogs name.
