I would love to know which kind of crystal ball you are using to predict the future of her puppy! Just because she has the puppy young does not guarentee that it will have lots of expensive vet bills and be nothing but trouble. Plenty of people have problem dogs with expensive vet bills when they take them home 12 weeks + In England its common for pups to go home at this age, but according to your crystal ball we must all have sick dogs who are nothing but bother to us no? ![]() Furbutt came on here asking for advice on how to care for such a young pup. She is fully prepared with everything she needs for this pup which is more then can be said for some owners on YT. If you cant or wont help her then why are you here? EDIT: Just to say I dont condone the breeder giving the pup so young at all, but in England it is very common - this dosnt make it right though because we know its better for them to stay with their mum longer ![]()

I do agree that the breeders are very wrong to let her go this early and i have made a complaint to the RSPCA and reported them. I hope to hear back from this soon and will update everyone on here. As for the excessive vet bills, i maybe young buy i think ANYONE who has taken the responsibility in buying a puppy/dog needs to be aware that anything can go wrong to the best of the breeds out there and its always a factor that needs to be addressed before looking at getting a puppy. The what ''if'' how would be support ourselves during this if the vet bills did mount up. Thankfully i have a good job and would be able to support myself and cover my vet bills but for safety I will be using petplan to insure my little Poppy. xxx

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Of course she is better off with you. I was in the same situation and didnt want to give my pup back to someone who would give her away so young, if they do that then how do you know they will care for her properly? She is in the best place with you, you have everything you need for her. John obviously hasnt bothered to read the thread.

| ![]() I am just now seeing this thread and I am so glad to hear that Poppy is getting along so well. My first Yorkie came home at 6 weeks. At the time I had no idea that was too young. She weighed 1.8 lbs at the time. She is now 14 years old! Hang in there. It sounds like Poppy is going to fine with all of the wonderful love and attention you are giving her. Keep posting, I look forward to following her progress!

Just because there are problems at this moment because of the puppys age is no indication that there will be future problems. FYI I took in a 2 week old Lhasa puppy from a breeder that the breeder told me probably wasn't going to live through the night, the mother was ignoring her and had several puppies and not enough milk for them all. I begged to take the Lhasa home with me to see what I could do for it. The breeder reluctantly agreed. I had the vet come to my home, he didn't think the puppy was going to make it. I nursed that puppy for over a week, sitting up at night with her, feeding her with a syringe. The puppy lived to be 14 years old and the only vet bills I had after the initial care were her check ups and shots. Obviously you would have told me that I would have nothing but trouble with her and should have left her with the breeder to die! While I am sure Natasha welcomes all advice on here, I am sure yours is advice she should ignore.

Breeders who breed four or more litters per year must be licensed by their local authority. Breeders with fewer litters must also be licensed if they are carrying out a business of breeding dogs for sale. Licensed breeders must: a) Not mate a bitch less than 12 months old. b) Not whelp more than six litters from a bitch. c) Not whelp two litters within a 12 month period from the same bitch. d) Keep accurate records. e) Not sell a puppy until it is at least eight weeks of age, other than to a keeper of a licensed pet shop or Scottish rearing establishment. This is from the KC website.. Thing is though no all breeders here are licensed. Some are hobby breeders who just dont bother to get a license or some litters are 'acidental' ![]() This is where it comes common (usually 6 weeks more then 5). Over here pups are weaned at about 4 weeks and once they are eating dog food they go to new homes, I know its not right and I agree it shouldnt be common but unfortunatley it is. EDIT: Oh and just to answer your origional question yes it is illegal but unfortunatley still happends.

The KC has several other more stringent laws being put into place.

| ![]() Just wanted to say I am happy to hear Poppy is eating and has had a clean bill of health! She is with Natasha who to me is the best Mom she can have. Try not to listen to people who come onto a post and voice negative things. If or when you want to report the breeder is your business. I am thrilled Poppy is doing so well and for you too. Bet you are having a wonderful time with her now that she is eating, drinking and playing!! Dyan |
