I'm sorry that Poppy is younger than she was supposed to be I know how much you've been looking forward to finally bringing her home, too!

You're doing great, and with all the experienced breeders here, you and Poppy should be just fine She's very lucky to have ended up with someone like you, who cares and is doing all they can to learn how to keep her thriving I'm scared for any other young pups that this guy is selling, though What if they end up with someone who doesn't know what to do, and has no one to ask?!?! There are a lot of people that know nothing about hypoglycemia, or keeping them warm, etc Gosh, this guy is SO WRONG!

Keep up the good work, Poppy's new mommy!

Okay let me think.. are her gums pink n moist? You can dip a bit of your milk subsitute on your finger and just put your baby finger in her mouth, also you can do this with water too.. Soon as she wakes up again. Hold her cuddle her pet her then wet your finger put into her mouth. She may lick the fluids off. Be prepared with your nutrical and dip baby finger in it and put in mouth if she won't eat.
In two hours if she isn't awake wake her up cuddle her and offer water n food.

Thank you. What should i do through the night? i am taking the crate into my bedroom and putting it beside my bed incase she wakes up. Should i feed her at least once through the night like someone said? All she has done tonight is sleep. She looks like a little mouse all curled up in her bed lol. I am going to try upload some pictures now of her. xxx

Okay I said feed her once through the night. Mary Mardelin said 5x per day.

It's close to bedtime there in England for both of you 11 pm or so, she ate twice since you got her home, maybe twice at the breeders, so yes, feed her in you can about 2-3am your time just to be safe. Also offer water, you can prepare the food cover it with plastic wrap, and there ya go, when your alarm goes off you don't have to go to the kitchen to prepare food

Im so sorry you need to follow Mary's advice to the letter she is a WONDEFUL mentor my girls HATES nutrical so i used to melt it ( it melts very well ) and give it to them by syringe melt it let it cool and try mixing it in with the milk if i were you ide use the goats milk idea from mary. be VERY VERY careful as your squirting things into her mouth it is quite easy for them to inhale it and then you will have pneumonia on your hands and that could be deadly in a pup her size. At 3 to 4 weeks body temperature should be at 100 degrees....and a pup should already be retaining their own body temp.

Potting reflexes are in place by 4 weeks of age.

Play sessions shouldn't be started until 8 weeks of age. All pups should need between birth and 6 weeks of age is mom. Do not overly handle as this is can cause hyperglycemia. If you can, and I don't what you'd call it in England, but in the states we keep NutriCal and/or NutriDrops on hand.

It really burns me up that this breeder sold a puppy this young. Luckily Furbutt is trying to do all the right things for Poppy. I dread to think what would have happened if Poppy had been sold to someone irresponsible

There is a sticky in the Breeding Section for Whelping Pudding. I've had tremendous luck with this recipe feeding tinies like this pup. You might want to try that.

A bit of caution with the NutriCal. I usually only give about a 1/2 inch in the morning and another 1/2 inch about mid morning. Don't over do, cause it can bring on a hyperglycemic attack and administering too much can contribute to diabitis.

Sorry to hear you are unwell Mary. Poppy's mom has gone to bed now it is about midnight in England. She knows to keep her warm she will get up once tonight to feed her.

So hopefully Mom and Pup will sleep well tonight.

Never Mary as it appears. this poor young woman asked all the questions, investigate, got so much on hand for her pup. I'm just weeping right now. She was so happy and now she is scared. she has read so many threads on here about young pups and the dangers. She immediately came on here to post when she found her registration papers that indicate that she was born in July sigh.

Beamers Mom posted the link for her on UK law around pups. This breeder is in contravention. But for now. we get her through tomorrow and Monday.

Oh gosh you wouldn't believe!! I heard of breeders that would have a dog with a great pedigree with some champion lines and a dog that didn't have champion lines. When the second dog had puppies, the breeder would register the pups with the Kennel club as offspring of the dog with the better pedigree. There are unscrupulous breeders in the UK as well as here.

I guess there are BYB's and disreputable breeders all over the world. And as long as uneducated (as far as dogs go) people will buy the puppies they will continue to stay in business.

I think Furbutt should report the breeder to the RSPCA as it is a form of animal abuse selling puppies too young.

I know some breeders on here on YT that do the same thing. Dogs that come from unregistered parents put on litter registrations of AKC parents.....
