| Yorkie Boy and Girl Questions for Owners I'm just curious, I want to find out from people who have female, male or both. "General" personality traits of the different sexes. I know they are all individuals but I find that my female is very territorial and not extremely playful. She will chase and retrieve a ball, but that's about it. She's also not very playful with other dogs and basically wants nothing to do with them. Are males more playful? That is what I've read but I wanted a real opinion and not just something from a book. What do you think? I would love to know! Thanks, Judy |

| I can only speak to the male that I have who's only 7.5 months old. He is cuddly when he wants to be, and is pretty independent and playful also. I heard that he will be an absolute love-bug as a neutered adult male. He LOVES people, and I must say, his socialization skills with other dogs has increased 10-fold since he was boarded for a few days last month while we were on vacation. He is no longer afraid, and will happily meet any size dog with a mad wagging tail

| My boy is 2.5 and is SUPER playful. He spends all of his waking hours doing something active; he is definitely NOT one to just sit on the couch and watch. He runs around the backyard, he plays with his toys, he adores fetching, and he loves to chew on his bully sticks. He is SUPER affectionate and follows me around and gives me tons of kisses, but he doesn't like to just sit still and snuggle with me during the daytime - he'd much rather go on a walk with me or go to the dog park. He is definitely a social butterfly, and loves every person and every dog he ever meets. Of course, this is just my little guy's personality, but I absolutely adore him!

| In my experience with both dogs and cats, the females love you, but the males are in love with you. They can both be very playful and affectionate, but generally speaking the boys were just enamored with me. The girls have always seemed a tad more independent. |

| I like what the above poster said. My male is definitely in love with me while my female simply just likes me. I honestly feel like she prefers her doggy brother to me.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Well my two males are very affectionate. Independent of course, but they want lots of love and attention. They are ready to go and do what ever I want. Our girl is more moody. Sometimes in your face affectionate and demanding of attention, and sometimes aloof and just wants to be left alone.

| Phoebe is a couch potato She is very territorial when it comes to other dogs. She's a daddy's girl , but at bed time she always cuddles behind my back and took over my side of the bed

| My boy is my lovey-dovey baby. He wants to be stroked & loved. He likes to play with his toys but he's every womans man. He turns upside down to be stroked & will nudge you if you're not doing it right! He sleeps on my back every night. My girl loves you, but she wants to touch, not be handled. She talks to you & skips every 2 steps while she's going down them. She's my light of my life but he's my baby.

| We (hubby and myself) are empty nesters and our Bailey is a singleton - very loveable. She always has to be touching me or follows me into every room of the house - including the bathroom. She constantly crawls into my lap at every chance possible. I will admit - that I started quilting recently and haven't been giving Bailey my 100% attention- so she started to get attention from my husband. I started to think that she was getting independent as she got older. I was wrong! As soon as I put the quilt aside - she came right back to me. She is my lov'r dog again! (just one of her many affectionate names)

| Our girl is super playful, loves fetch, bounces around like a little rabbit, loves all dogs she meets and people...but is also super cuddly and affectionate - follows us all around (myself, my husband and our son) and will sleep on my lap for hours or lye down licking the crook of my arm and looking up at me with baby eyes. She's the light of our lives.
