YorkieTalk Newbie! | Yorkie Mama in-waiting Hi Everyone, I have been preparing for and learning about Yorkies for a few years. I felt my family and home wasn't ready until now. The kids are older, things are very settled, I'm working at home: the time is right! I put the word out to everyone I knew and a local groomer came back with the best news: a local owner was expecting a litter of Yorkies! I called and am second on the list. That our puppy isn't born yet just adds to the excitement. I'm a Mama in-waiting again and I'm getting our nest ready. I'm so happy to have found this site as I'm sure I will be in here daily learning what I need to know. Reading about Yorkies and owning one are different things, I am sure. My screen name is a nod to my husband, who contributed the name: Thor, Dog of Thunder should we select a male. Any advice on what to look for and what to expect from each gender is appreciated. I spoke with the breeder today and she is sure they will be born any day now. I'm just waiting for that call and then I expect to have our puppy sometime in late-Oct/Nov. Can't wait! |

| With yorkies, there seems to be a general trend when it comes to the genders. This is of course not true with all of them, but the males seem to be more dependent and lovey while the females are more independent and have more attitude. This is definitely true for my two. Just make sure you choose the one for your lifestyle Good luck! Make sure to share pictures once they are born!

| Welcome!! All yorkies are very smart!! Girls are my choice and find they were easy to train and potty train, I know a few people who have boys and they said they still don't have them potty trained or they mark in there house so they have to keep belly bans on them at all times in the house. Good luck on your baby, its a exciting time. I too was a mommy in waitting on my first yorkie Bailey. I helped with the whelping and cut her cord and cleaned her and helped her get her first taste of moms milk, she is now 14 years old.
