We Did It! We Got Cooper a Brother!!

I need some help. The breeder gave me some Eukanuba puppy food and said to feed him 10-12 kibbels in the morning, and same at night. He devoured this morning's food and then went after Cooper's food.

The package says 1 - 1 1/4 c/85= 110g for 3 pound dog, 10 weeks.

How much am I supposed to feed my puppy??

I free feed my puppies as well as the others and it works great for me

I would follow the directions on the package.

ETA: Have you seen this? I'm not sure what type of Eukanuba you are feeding him, but you need to check this out.

I would think about 1/4 cup, 3 or 4 times a day...Like 6 a.m. 11 a.m. 4 p.m. & 9 p.m....If he is getting too roly poly, then cut back a little...But he is a growing boy!

I agree that's a large amount. But it's got to do with the quality of the food. Right now, Scarlett is 3.6 lbs (14 weeks) and eats about 1/4 cup of Blue Buffalo per day, and some days even that's a fight. But even 1/8 of a cup is more than 10-12 kibble (they could be smaller than the eukanuba though...)

Obviously, since he gobbles the amount you give him and is looking for more, he needs more than 12 kibble. Then again- he could just be one of those pups that will eat everything in sight. My mom has to keep Emmalee away from Oliver during feeding times because she INHALES her food and then she would run over and eat all of Oliver's on top of it. The dog literally won't stop if there is food any where nearby (think Marley in scene with the bag of food).

Cooper may lose some weight in the first week or two. All that running around ...my two were the same way. Now they play hard..but the older they get the closer they are. They are laying hip to hip next to me. NEVER thought i would see it!!

I'll figure it out. I've heard great things about Blue Buffalo. I'd like to eventually get them both on the same food, but right now we are testing Cooper's allergies, so nothing as been stable yet. We have a pack of Life's Abundance that he really seems to enjoy.

Aw! How precious! I have puppy fever now! Not sure which is worse, puppy or baby fever. Both are going to have to diminish for now.
