| Welcome to YT. I'm not sure, could be because of the smell. If your husband is ill, she may not like the smell, illness can be smelled by dogs, maybe she is trying to change it. Don't you just wish they could tell you why they do what they do? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | welcome. The one time my Cali did that she had a UTI. She also was licking her privates. She had never done that before or since. Or maybe she wants attention. Hopefully it was just a one time occurance.

| Bella and bed Oh my yes she is allowed to be on the bed and can jump up and down like a yo yo.. no problems there.. Our bed is not a real high one anyhow. I don't think it is smell...husband needs a liver transplant but no visible signs of sickness other than swollen belly. but who knows maybe she can smell something I can't?? She has just come out of her first heat so she has been investigating her privates a lot lol.. She has been here since May and is normally good as gold about urinating, we use puppy pads and go outside she will do both....We take her with us when we go somewhere as long as she is allowed in, its too hot here to leave anyone outside....we are having an unusually HOT summer even for texas. Thanks for replies....I love this forum already. Linda |

| Bella Yes she can get up and down to the bed just great. Our bed isn't real tall anyhow.. She has just gotten out of her first heat.. husband has no visible signs of being sick other than a swollen belly (he needs a liver transplant) so I don't think it s a smell but then I know they can smell stuff we can't so who knows???? She came from a family father had left, mother had 3 small children including a baby in arms...so attention could be a factor but she is agressive over food too.... |

| Hi and welcome to YT! If it happens again I would call the vet, could be a uti. I would keep an eye on her.

| Welcome to YT. Did you notice a stronger odor to her urine? I agree with others, could be UTI.

| Welcome to YT! I don't have much experience with female dogs but I agree with 'cathys' up there. She could smell that your husband is sick - just because there's no change in scent for you, doesn't mean she can't smell one. My dad had a heart attack a few years ago and our Sheltie stayed right there with him - almost every minute. Just watch her. Good luck with your husband's liver transplant, I hope that works out soon!
