| where are dogs alowed in stores?! Here in Germany they love dogs! You can take them into clothing stores, restaurants(about 90% of them will even give you a water bowl for them)...practically anywhere. I was taking my millie everywhere with em when I went out. Even when I shopped at the BX on base, I'd take her in her little bag (I wouldn't go to the commissary with her just because of it being a grocery store). Well when I took her with me to California in January, I was still taking her places with me. UNTIL I took her with me to Target. She was sitting happily in her bag that was sitting in the baby seat (she loves this) and I was approached by a store employee who told me that I had to take her outside of the store. I was mad, she wasn't barking or anything. I ended up just zipping up her bag and putting it in the bottom basket for the rest of the trip, but then I stopped taking her to the stores there. What I just loved is that I had taken her to Walmart with me a couple of times before that and the store employees would come up to me and want to pet her! No one there ever told me that I had to leave. NOW when I got home from my latest trip to California 2 weeks ago, my husband told me that the big BX we have here has stopped allowing people to bring in their pets. I was mad at this too. I almost can't take her anywhere now, unless I go off base. SOO my question: where do you take your little one? has anyone ever said anything about them? |

| When Miles was a puppy, I took him EVERYWHERE with me. Literally, everywhere. In fact, I think a lot of the reason he has such a good demeanor around all sorts of people, kids, and other dogs is because I exposed him to so much. So I think you're doing a great thing! That being said... I successfully took him on trips through Target, Walmart, Cheeseburger in Paradise (on the patio), Walgreens, even Nordstrom (just a quick trip in and out!). The great majority of people loved having him there and would ask to pet and hold him. We only had a problem once, and that was at Walmart. There was a Taco Bell inside the Walmart, therefore it was against certain codes to have animals inside. The funny part about this is that when the manager stopped me, he told me I would have to take Miles outside "unless he was a seeing-eye-dog". I almost rolled on the floor laughing. Did he honestly think this 2-lb yorkie puppy in the front of my cart sleeping was guiding me through the store? Anyway, I gave him a friendly argument that Miles was cleaner and better behaved than most toddlers (no screaming or poopy diapers), but it didn't matter. Now that Miles is grown up, he doesn't go too many place with me, but we still go into Walgreens occassionally. He'll sit with me in the pharmacy while waiting for prescriptions, or browse the store while waiting for photos. We've been to Walgreens a million times, and they've never said anything. We get complimented all the time on how well-behaved and relaxed he is. It's like he's seen it all so many times before, that it's no big deal to him. I think the moral of the story is...if there's food preparation/groceries involved, you could be asked to leave. Some restaurants are pet-friendly on the patio (I used to work at one, and we didn't mind dogs at all). Good luck! |

| I take Ruby everywhere, too. I want her to get used to the sights and sounds and she is really well-behaved in her purse. Once we were asked to leave an Ulta, and I complained only because they were so rude to me about it. they weren't nice, so we don't go there anymore at all. Nordstroms allows pets. We've gone to Ross, TJ Maxx, Home Depot, Lowe's, of course the pet stores, Half-Price Books (they are very dog-friendly, all sizes) places like that. I've never taken her to a grocery store or Target/Walmart. I once saw a lady asked to leave, she had a maltese that was sitting in the basket -- no bag or anything. Right now the bag I have is an obvious dog-purse, but I think I'm going to get me a Kwigy-bo and try going more places. I figure the worst they can do is tell me to leave just like Ulta did. Leslie |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I overheard a man being asked to leave a store with a big dog - He pointed out that he'd seen small dogs in that same store and why was it ok for them and not him (it happened to be a store I had Chanel with me prior to that trip and no one asked me to leave - but I remember thinking he had a point All cities are different but one thing to remember is not all people are dog lovers and don't want to be shopping knowing people have dogs in the store no matter how cute or small they are. also - there are Health Regulations which are strictly enforced especially places that sell food (Grocery Stores etc) My other reason I only take them on occasion is if I took them all the time - they'd get so used to it they'd expect it every time I leave the house .... mine would pout like their world was ending |

I can understand not taking her anywhere that sells food though, but for the most part she has gone any other place imaginable. Once A target manager told me I had to leave, but every other Target employee loves to come up and pet her, and she's always sitting in her bag. I've never seen that Target manager again though, so it was just that one time.

| I've taken Kimbo into stores before when he was smaller. He was in a dog carrier that looked like a purse and nobody noticed. I saw nothing wrong with it. I do, however, know a woman who is extremely allergic to cats and she told me that she doesn't appreciate it when people bring any type of pets into stores, restaraunts, ect. because it's not safe for those with severe allergies. (By severe, I mean she has to carry an Epipen everywhere with her) I did stop taking Kimbo into stores with me, but only because he started barking at people and demanding that they pet him and let him lick them. lol, he thinks everyone is there to see him!

| Aside from Petsmart, I don't take Roxie into many places with me. We brought her into Party City once and were asked to take her out, so I really just don't even bother anymore. Interestingly enough, I was in Panera the other day when this lady came in with an adorable little shorkie (I had to ask her what kind of dog it was). She was not asked to leave...in fact the employees behind the counter were all oohing and ahhing over her!

| I've heard from other people that Target is soo strict on no pets allowed in their stores but I've taken Oliver almost everywhere (except the grocery store) and everyone just adores him! In fact, when I go back they always ask where he is haha

| I use to take Dustee with me everywhere as well in walmart, dollar general, attwoods, lowes, she goes to all the kids pig shows and i was only asked to leave with her one time at dollar general and it made me mad as well so i said well i will gladly take my money elsewhere to spend so we left without buying the whole basket of stuff i had and went to walmart and got what we needed. Normally people love her because she so small 2.8lbs but as others has stated some people just dont like animal period.
