| Looking for a reputable Yorkie Breeder Near Syracuse, New York Hello!!! I just joined yesterday! I'm 14 years old and have been researching toy dogs for quite some time now. I've e-mailed breeders and gotten some very interesting replies - ex. Some have tried to sell me their Yorkie puppies without even seeing the dogs in person. Then they told me that they were in Cameroon, Africa on a missions trip and would just expect me to pay for shipping their puppy to me. My mother says that is a red flag and to stay clear. I couldn't believe that 3 breeders actually told me the same story!! Well, I'm now coming to you to ask if you could direct me to a reputable Yorkie breeder who has AKC puppies for sale near Syracuse, New York. I am hoping to locate a puppy soon so that I will be able to spend my summer vacation bonding with the puppy and training it while I'm home all day before school starts in Sept. I look forward to your words of wisdom. Thank you so much for your time. Roxie |

| There is a breeder's section on Yorkie Talk, and also there is an AKC website that lists AKC approved breeders you can search for by state. Good luck!!

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Good for you being only 14 and doing your research before you buy a dog. Your mom is absolutely right; avoid the sellers who tell you they are in other countries- they are a complete scam and you will never see your money again! If you haven't read this already, this link will help you get some ideas of what you and your mother should be asking and looking for in breeders. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...uy-yorkie.html In general, avoid a breeder who is advertising in the newspaper or strictly on websites. Do you have a vet picked out already? They may be a good resource in finding a reputable breeder in your area. You might also want to consider looking in to getting a pup from a rescue group and saving a life. Also, I am going to say this and I hope you aren't offended by it, but a reputable breeder might answer your questions, but should not be making sales arrangements with someone your age. They will need to talk with your mom, too. A person under the age of 18 can not enter in to contracts legally.

| Hi Roxie, I got my Yorkie, Lulu, from Mistibleu Yorkies in Hilton NY which is near Rochester. The breeders names are Kim and Bob Balas. They do a thorough interview process and would want to talk with your parents. Their website is www.ryorkies.com. Best of Luck,

I love how the puppies stay with the breeder longer and how they are potty trained before you get them. It also eased my mind that Lulu was spayed before I got her. I read on your other post that your little girl is small but I know Kim and Bob totally trust their vet to spay/neuter the small ones. They said he has a lot of experience with the small puppies. Best of luck and please post a bunch of pictures!!!

| Hi Colleen! I want to thank you again for telling me about Kim!! We believe God spoke through you to lead us to our new little Yorkie. I made a photo album with a bunch of pictures we took when we visited her on Saturday. Last edited by Doodles; 07-28-2010 at 06:28 AM. |

| Buyers beware about Mistibleu Yorkies Buyers beware: I went on this website (Yorkietalk) and I found out about Mistibleu Yorkies after reading some reviews. I did end up getting a yorkie from Kim, but found out afterwards that he has a hereditary disease and needed surgery. I spent a lot of money on surgery as well as the numerous vet visits. I just want to let everyone else know my experience because I don't want anyone to go through what I did. |

| Yes, that is too bad about your dog. Lulu is 6 years old and (*knock on wood*) she has only needed her teeth cleaned once. She has very mild luxating patella. I keep in contact with Kim and several other people who got dogs from her and they are all very happy and satisfied.

| My yorkie has some tartar build up when I got him at 8 months old when my vet first checked him out, he is 2 years old now, but hopefully it doesn’t get bad. He does have very dry skin and allergies, which I’m not sure if you have the same problem. He also has a luxating patella in one leg and he was diagnosed with Necrosis of the Femoral Head aka Legg Calve Perthes Disease (hereditary disease) on the other leg. I noticed him not favoring the one side when I first got him, but didn’t know what was really wrong until I got x-rays taken. It is very costly and some people might not realize they have the same problem or might not even be willing to do it. I’m just glad he is much better now and yes he is adorable, but people shouldn’t have to spend so much money on a new dog once we first get them if the breeder is reputable. |
