Dying/Enhancing the show Yorkie Why was the dying hair thread closed? I didnt see anyone out of line. Just wondering why a thread was closed for no reason. I thought it was interesting to discuss the whys and why nots of dying and enhancing show dogs. The video clearly displayed the difference one can make in a dog in just an hour of time. Very informational. |
Wow!!! I don't get it either. Friendly chit chat. Unless the OP requested that it be closed. I thought it was interesting. |
Yup me too. But admin can close or not with no explanation. Lets see if this one gets closed |

usually they put a note that it was closed at the OPs request. I do agree it does not look like dye because it did not color his hands. But it sure made a difference on the coat. Just a thought, do you think it might have been closed because he is advertising a product? |

wow really enjoyed the videos |
Those videos were very interesting. Nice to see the transformation in the dog, now only if it were natural it would be my approval! Its kind of sad that extremist in the dog showing world will do whatever it takes for a win :( |

No disrespect intended but it would be good to continue if show breeders were giving their impute. Then it would be educational. The way it is it is pet owners and parti breeders and its obvious the parti breeders have an ax to grind with show breeders and I do understand why but that isn't education. At least thats how the last thread ended up going maybe this one wont |
Oh wow - looks like this has been a big topic in the past as well. Here is just one of the old conversations I found http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-yorkies.html |

I've seen these vids before & thought the whole process was grueling & cruel to the poor Yorkie...esp the top knot teasing & pulling & tugging parts, ouch! He was using a Madan brush.:D |
Wow I really enjoyed watching the topknot. I admit it did look kind of rough but you can tell the dog was just laying there enjoying it and not moving an inch. If only mine would lay like that! It seemed like it too forever. I didn't know your suppose to tease the hair and all that jazz. lol no wonder mine don't turn out so nice. But I don't like how low it was, I prefer them up on the head a bit higher. |
I have a question, are all show dogs that easy to groom? Not that the grooming part was easy but how the dog just let this man do all that. I was wondering if that dog was drugged? I never knew all that went into doing a topknot. I'm lucky if I can get them to stay put long enough to put a bow in. |

I didn't watch the videos LOL...but Radar lays his head on his roll pillow while I do his top knot and doesn't move for the most part. He loves the attention he gets and gets to lay down his favorite part of grooming for show LOL...I'm always having to tap him to wake up while standing when I'm wrapping him because he falls asleep and I have to tap him before he falls over LOL...grooming for show I think is always a great calming affect on me and my dog. I love grooming for show and for pleasure. I love the Pure Paws condioning shine spray in the purple bottle! Donna |
Ridiculously beautiful Yorkie! Wow! I wish I could get a top knot in my boys. I tried to grow out Fletcher's coat one time but whenever he peed it would get on his hair and he would mat and stink. Although in my eyes, he's gorgeous, he is not in any way even remotely close to a show dog, at almost 13lbs, but his coat is beautiful, shiny and silky so he could have a long coat. How do you keep them from smelling like pee though? |
Teegy would stop looking like a little boy if I did that and I think his granny would kill me. |
I won't comment on the dying/enhancing since I don't show. But I'm blown away by how still that girl stood during the process. Rhett is good during his grooming till it comes to drying him off. Scarlett on the other hand, howls like I'm killing her during her bath. I'm hoping she'll calm down since this is going to be a weekly process. |

Grooming with Radar is relaxing for both me and Radar! He loves his one on one time with mommy!! He'd be happy no matter where we were...grooming table, show ring, running on the beach, running in the backyard or just laying in my chair! I love when people stop at my set up and watch me do his top knot...they are ooohhhhhhing and awwwwwwwwing on how still he is laying on his roll pillow with his eyes closed LOL...he's a funny little boy! I've actually been very lucky to have all my show dogs lay on the pillow nice and quiet :) |
