Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but this really hurt my feelings. Okay, So I drive through Tim Hortons nearly every day for my coffee, Bailey is always in the car seat on the passenger side. The staff around the drive through window at Tims all stick their heads out to have a peek at him and to give him his treat. I've always had them say "Awww. he is so cute!" stuff like that, things we've all heard before about our babies. Has I was driving away today I heard one of the young girls say "I think he looks like a little rat" Well, I can't believe how much this hurt my feelings! Maybe I am a little hormonal today, sure that is true:rolleyes: but still it made me feel bad to hear this said about my Bailey. I kept saying to Bailey, "you don't look like a rat, you are a little doll" "That wasn't a nice lady Bailey" Of course Bailey doesn't know the difference, he thinks everyone loves him:) |
I wouldn't be overly sensative about it. I think Troy looks like a little rat sometimes but I still think he's cute too. He's your dog so I can understand why your offended, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. |
Of course it hurt your feelings. Bailey is your baby! Personally, I think he's one of THE cutest little guys there is. Someone must have forgotten to wear their glasses to work this morning IMO. Please give Bailey an extra huge kiss and hug from me, and tell him he is ADORABLE. |
You should have told her that you thought SHE looked like a rat :) I dont think you were being overly sensitive at all! I would have been really offended she was just being plain rude. |
It would hurt my feelings too...for about 10 seconds. Then I would just chalk it up to the fact that maybe someone is jealous of you for having such a cute little baby. Please give him a big kiss and hug from me too. I'm assuming that the person that said this is a perfect example of the human race, otherwise I don't think they would have room to talk. lol |
One time when i took Pasquale to Florida...i was walking him thru the parking garage and this lady turned around and said "omg i thought that was a rat". I just smiled at her and said "dont worry..he thought you were a cow" :D Some people are just stupid..and they deserve to know it :) |
Don't let this upset you. First, you know that Bailey is adorable. Second, keep in mind that not everyone loves little dogs, and not everyone loves little dogs with long hair (as a few people have told me while looking at my dogs in disgust :p). Laugh it off and give Bailey a hug. :) |
My DH calls My baby Rattie Maddie :eek:---he says it with love, but he knows its my pet peeve. And now hes got my son calling her that. I think they do it more to get under my skin:rolleyes: I should mention he always HATED little dogs--But maddie and Dh are best Buddies now--like i said i think he does it more to bug me---and it does--MEN!! |

Maybe she was just a big dog person? I know a lot of people that aren't big fans of small dogs, think they are too needy. I doubt she meant for you to hear her, or I am just naive and give people the benefit of the doubt too much lol |
Thanks All, I know Bailey is cute, and to those people that don't think so, it really does not matter, I am feeling overly sensitive about a lot of things today. I never saw the girl who said it, I was driving away from the window, and my car window was still down, that's why I heard her. I was just surprised how bad it made me feel to hear that, Bailey is my baby :) I do feel okay now, things don't usually bother me so much!!:rolleyes: P.S...Loved the cow comment!!:D:thumbup: |
Awww, I'm sorry people are so stupid and rude. I am overly sensitive about Jackson too so I understand why you'd feel that way about sweet little Bailey. My stepsister is always rude to Jackson, she's 18 and extremely immature and not a great person. I think she does it just to piss me off but it really hurts my feelings. These dogs are our children and I guess some people just don't understand that. You don't tell someone their child looks like a rat... why say it to a dog? |

Oh, people are always so anxious to make the 'little rat' comments when it comes to our beautiful yorkies. I've heard it a time or two myself. Those people do not know what they are missing and are probably jealous they don't have their own beautiful yorkie. I will say - that the 'wet look' is not for Lucy. I know what you mean about being overly sensitive, I think we all have days like that. Bailey is very Handsome, and you know that, but some people have no taste or tact for that matter. Remember she is probably young and we all say and do stupid things when we are young, just for the shock value. She was probably just trying to be different from everyone, just to disagree. Remember the only opinion that really matters is yours. |
She might have meant it in a good way. I call my yorkie "mi ratoncita" which means my lil' rat. I love her to death and think she's the cutest thing in the world. You have a bad impression of rats but not everyone does. You should see my little girl walking along the wall and you will understand what I mean. Don't take it to heart, if someone tells me my girl looks like a rat I put a big grin in my face because in humor she does. Just like some people think newborns are ugly that doesn't mean they don't like them. Everyone has a different way of thinking. |

there is a employee at home depot that tell me that all the time he also tells me where the traps are as they do have them all over the store so i don't let her walk there at just 3 pounds the big trap could hurt her and for that i'm grateful that he lets me know she is my avatar and will be 11 months tomorrow ( porsche ) or lil one Pat |
My DH also calles Bella a rat, ratdog, etc. I ignore it. Last night I let her follow me outside and he called out, You've got a rat following you. My kids do the same thing. I let it pass. Granted it is family, but even with strangers just ignore them. They might not be small dog lovers. |

I would find a plastic squeaky rat for my visit through the drive thru tomorrow and have him sitting right next to Baily.
