That poor girl obviously has not experienced being loved by a Yorkie! One of my obnoxious neighbor called my gang 'rats' too & I just ignored him. He's an exterminator & I was thinking to myself, 'rats? they can probably help you catch them...idiot.' kekeeke |

Don't feel to bad. One of my friends calls Brandi a rat all the time. Truth is she does look like rat when she is wet. I teased him about his dog all the time. He has the goofiest dog in the world. He has a labadoodle. No agility or grace at all. |
One of my sons called my dogs rats. I just called his big Lab a horse and figure we're even. It doesn't bother me at all. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and really, I don't think he meant anything by it anyways. |

You know, I've always had a fondness for little rat dogs, and it may be the reason I leave Ruger's hair a little long. As you said, most of my neighbors tell me how cute Ruger is, but many of the guys say he looks like a rat, and I should have gotten a hamster instead. To them, anything smaller than a Lab isn't a real dog. To tell you the truth, it's always been in good fun, and I just smile and laugh with them. I know none of them would ever get a Yorkie, but then I would never get a Pitbull. Just ignore the comments. :D |
I know how you feel. I don't mind most of the comments Thor gets, but "rat" bugs me, because I feel it's so dismissive of little dogs in general. I feel like it's more a way of the speaker to announce that "I am a big tough man, and I don't truck with anything small and cute. HRAHGH! I'm off to pump iron!" The other day Thor was rolling around on the grass and I heard a teenage girl say he was adorable. She followed that up by saying he looked like a creepy stuffed animal whose name she couldn't remember. Beanie babies, maybe? Anyway, I thought it was funny that she described him as cute and "creepy" at the same time. |

My brother has called Teegy a wee rat since the day he met him. Doesn't stop him playing with him and giving him hugs and kisses when he thinks I'm not looking. This morning Teegy did look like a rat when he ran through a neighbours sprinkler on our morning walk, a very very cute rat though. |

I know how you feel I get that all the time or when I give Holly a bath and she is still wet she looks like a chihuahua. But I don't listen I Love my babies and thats what matters. |
