I think Willie looks like a rat when he is wet. Quite frequently, we sit there in the bathroom together, him in the tub, me standing over him with the shower head, he looks up at me with his big eyes, I look at him and I say "Willie - you look like a drowned rat". Then he snorts, and shakes the water on me as punishment!

You know, I've always had a fondness for little rat dogs, and it may be the reason I leave Ruger's hair a little long. As you said, most of my neighbors tell me how cute Ruger is, but many of the guys say he looks like a rat, and I should have gotten a hamster instead. To them, anything smaller than a Lab isn't a real dog.

To tell you the truth, it's always been in good fun, and I just smile and laugh with them. I know none of them would ever get a Yorkie, but then I would never get a Pitbull.

Just ignore the comments.

I know how you feel. I don't mind most of the comments Thor gets, but "rat" bugs me, because I feel it's so dismissive of little dogs in general. I feel like it's more a way of the speaker to announce that "I am a big tough man, and I don't truck with anything small and cute. HRAHGH! I'm off to pump iron!"

The other day Thor was rolling around on the grass and I heard a teenage girl say he was adorable. She followed that up by saying he looked like a creepy stuffed animal whose name she couldn't remember. Beanie babies, maybe? Anyway, I thought it was funny that she described him as cute and "creepy" at the same time.

Bailey is a doll, I get the same way when someone says something about mine but they are our babies I think we naturally feel insulted.

My brother has called Teegy a wee rat since the day he met him. Doesn't stop him playing with him and giving him hugs and kisses when he thinks I'm not looking. This morning Teegy did look like a rat when he ran through a neighbours sprinkler on our morning walk, a very very cute rat though.

hahahahaha, reminds me of the other night at the dog park. There's this obnoxious guy who actually thinks he's amusing, going on and on about himself. He says I'm dark brown just like chocolate and warm caramel as if he's all things delicious. I turned around in front of everyone and said, you know that sh#t is brown don't you. Boy did he shut up and those of us who find him annoying had a good laugh about it.
