| Frustrated! Hello everyone! I apologize ahead of time for being AWOL from the board. Life has been extremely busy as of late, as I am sure most of yours are too! Okay....I am completely frustrated. We have an adorable Yorkshire Terrier named "Ollie". He will be 3 on the 31 of this month (July). We purchased him last fall (October) from what I am quite sure was a puppy mill. Ollie seemed to have spent most of his time in a crate. When I asked the lady about Ollie, she said that he was paper-trained. We bring him home and he has been peeing all over our house. This is STILL going on 9 months later and I am getting really angry at this point. He is a beautiful little dog, listens, never barks at all etc. but this peeing is something that I can't live with. What the heck do we do with him? He knows what "outside" is. He will go out for a walk, a sniff around the backyard whatever, pee one thousand times out there and then come in and pee on whatever he can INSIDE the house. Now when we bought Ollie, the lady said that she was selling him because he was no good for breeding because he has one undescended testicle. Do you think this has anything at all to do with the peeing? Or is it just a "marking" thing? We praise excessively and give him treats when he comes in from peeing and pooping outside, but there is a definite dis-connect in his doggy brain when he persists on peeing inside. This is also a problem because believe it or not, I can NEVER catch him in the act. I will scorn when I am knelt down cleaning up the pee. But Ollie just does NOT seem to get it at all. We have barracaded him in a lino-floored space (kitchen) when we have gone out for a few hours, and we will come back to a pee. He can't even seem to hold it! Arghhh.....can you tell that I am at my wits end? If any of you have any suggestions, I will be forever endebitted to you! Thank-you for reading all of this! Lisa |

| Sounds like marking to me because you said he pees a lot outside as well. I don't know if he will stop this behaviour when he is neutered. Hopefully someone else can help you out. Did you ask the vet? There is no infection?

| This behavior sounds like marking to me as well. Is Ollie fixed?

| I wrote a dang book and I forgot to mention that no Ollie is not yet fixed. I wonder if that will stop this peeing. I also forgot to mention that there were other dogs that had lived in this house previously. Perhaps he can still 'smell' them? My husband keeps saying that he will "fix" Ollie himself if he keeps ruining our home!!!! |

| Have you heard of belly bands- Dog Panties, Dog Underwear, Male Dog Belly Bands, Puppy Panties If it is marking and not some type of infection, these will help with saving your house. |

| I would suggest neutering him... it might help curb the need to mark.

| I would have your vet check him out and then at the same time make an appointment for a neuter. Neutering most likely will help curb his marking it may not solve it completely. Belly bands will make your life easier. |

| Have you heard of cryptorchidism? If not, google it up. You should get him neutered so that he does not develop cancer later in his adult life. Blue Sake had both testicles undescended & I got him neutered. Mind you, I never wanted to breed him. Unfortunately, it costs more to neuter the dog with cryptrochidism than dogs with descended testicles. It sounds like he is marking his territory. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I'd get him neutered ASAP because he's already 3 years old and has an undescended testicle. It can become cancerous. He's also marking all over your house and outside because he's intact. Neutering may not help with the marking now since he's 3 already unfortunately. Belly bands will definitely help keep the urine off your floor and furniture though. have you ever tried crating him? will he potty in the crate even if its really small? what about wee wee pads? does he use those?
