Boo boo....when you brought him back inside, did you treat him? Is it true that they are not suppose to have raw hides? I was thinking she is so small that she doesnt even put teeth marks in the rawhides.... do you think it would be okay?

Rawhides are not digestible and damage the digestive system. Your pup may not put a dent in one now, but it won't be long. I like Merrick Wishbones (beef tendon) and Merrick Texas Toothpicks (beef tail) and Himalayan Chews (sold by YT member RDB911). Supervise closely with all 3, especially the Toothpicks as some dogs can devour them quickly.

I always give treats and make a big fuss telling him he was a good boy. I wanted to be sure he knew that it was the right thing that he just did! Depending on your dog, treats aren't always the answer. I read somewhere that you have to find your dog's "currency". What does your dog like more than anything? For some dogs it's playtime, for some it's a nice belly rub! I also read that rawhides aren't good for them, they break off into little pieces that can be sharp and hurt them throughout their digestive system, they also get wet with saliva and absorb it rather than getting dry, so they are a breeding ground for bacteria. For chewing and teething I found an awesome little hard rubber bone that boo loved! I think the company that makes it is Orca, or something that sounds like that. I got it at pet supplies plus, but I see them pretty much everywhere. It's too hard for him to chew it into little pieces, but soft enough that it won't get rough and hurt his little mouth either. I used to give both of my dogs rawhides, but my vet said to stop and i did. They didn't really miss them. You can research as much as you want, but you pretty much learn as you go. This is a great place for that! There are tons of people ready and willing to give great advice!
