With Lola I remember it was not long after Stormy passed away my first yorkie. She was very shy and not outgoing at all. A total lap dog. Not playful or anything. When we walked in Lola ran up to us and she was so ugly she was cute lol Her hair was ALL shaved off and her ears were huge but she was SO happy and playful, she started bringing all her toys over to us and wanting to play. My hubby and daugher just sat and played with her but I was still not convinced. THen the lady showed me all her belongings and pulled out the exact same Leash set that my Stormy had. I got tears in my eyes as I told the woman that my dog that just passed had the exact same set. Well it felt like it was a sign from my baby girl in heaven that this was ment to be. On the way there it was storming and raining but when we left it was sunshine. With Zach I saw his pictures before and thought he was so adorable, I loved that he had the long hair and he looked so sweet. I had to wait a little over a month to get him and we drove a few hours to meet our breeder. They were so kind to meet us half way otherwise it would of been one heck of a trip! We pulled up and Lynne got out of the car with Zach in her arms with his little sweater on. She passed him to me and he was SO adorable!!! and smelt sooooo good I just held him and couldn't get over how perfect he was!:) |
This is a GREAT thread!!! The first time I saw Muffin and Boomer was on a You tube video. They were so little. I didn't think the breeder still had Muffin so I called to ask if they had one like her. She actually still had her, so I made plans to get her. My sister wanted one too so I told her to pick one out and she chose Boomer. He would be my Christmas gift to her. I picked them up at the San Francisco airport on a November day. I got there an hour early and waited with one of my good friends and her little boy. I was so excited. When I finally saw them they were much smaller than I thought they'd be...I guess the camera really does add pounds. They were so cute. I took them out and held them....they just clung to me. There were two other people waiting for pups in the "Pet Air" area. When all the pups came in...everyone kept coming back to see Muffin and Boomer. Of course they were the cutest ones there :) Boomer was with my sister a few weeks until she decided a puppy was too much for her to handle. I gladly took him back...He was surely meant to be with me too because he's been my little Mamma's boy ever since. |
When I first met Kaji was when I picked him up at the airport. He had gone through a 5 hour flight with 2 layovers to get to me. I went in and nervously signed the release forms. (signed in the wrong place too.) I quickly took him outside and put the crate on a bench. He was curled up in the back of the crate as tiny as he could possibly make himself. I honestly thought this must be the wrong dog! I thought I was getting a one year old (that day was his bday) 6 lb yorkie. The furbutt in the corner looked way too teeny!!! He wanted nothing to do with me. I pulled pieces of chicken I had brought with me out of my purse and spent a good 30 mins tossing chicken pieces into the crate. He eventually relaxed enough to let me pull him out. He still didn't want anything to do with me! I put him back in, gently placed him in the car and drove home. I don't think I've ever driven so slowly in my life! I didn't want to scare him. I got him home, let him walk around, gave him a bath and finally he started to relax. :D By the end of the night, he couldn't stand not being by my side. That's when I knew I had found my true love. |
This thread is too cute! I've already posted mine, but keep checking back because the stories are so sweet! |

Wow, this had me teared up too! Baxter: I always wanted a dog my entire adult life. My husband promised me that as soon as we bought a house, we could get a dog. (I knew it had to be a yorkie because I had fallen in love with a co-workers dog.) He said he would not play ith or feed the dog, but if I MUST have one, it would be "ok". I picked Baxter out of a litter when he was 3 days old, and visited him every other Saturday until it was time for him to come home. I took a receiving blanket and a toy to the breeder & she put it in the kennel with his mother to get her scent. I will never forget the day we picked him up to take him home, he was bathed and fluffy, wearing a red polka dotted bow, that I still have as a keepsake. I held him nestled to my chest the whole way home, and when I put him on the floor to put his food and water down, he barked his head off at me...as if to say "hey I don't know this place!" Cooper: About a year after Baxter came to live with us, I had the puppy fever again. I stopped at a pet store "just to look" and they had one yorkie in a kennel alone. I asked to take him out, just to look, and I fell in love. I paid for him, and took him home. My husband said I had to take him back, and I said he was non-refundable :p . He was mad at me for a while, and decided Baxter was HIS dog, since I was a traitor and brought another baby home. Darcy: In 2008, my Husband, the man who didin't care for dogs, was driving on our road, and spotted a little dog laying in the middle of it, cars whizzing around her. It was rainy, and he was scared she would get ran over, so he stopped to pick her up. He didn't make it out of the truck, because as soon as he opened the door, she jumped in, crawled over to the passenger seat, and fell asleep. She was panting heavily when he got her home, I took her to the vet & he put her on Lasik for her heart. I put an ad in the paper and contacted all the vets & groomers in the area, but no one claimed her. It was ok, because in my heart she belonged to us the minute I saw her in my husbands arms. |
I am so glad I started this topic now! I almost quoted basically every ones story! It made me so excited/happy just reading those! It also makes me want to get Bilbo a little sister out brother when I move out of this apartment/ finish college! Lol |
When we first went to the breeder's house there was 2 girls there. The other was bigger then Bee & had Shanuazer Momma, but had been with Bee there whole life. Bee used to be very shy(shes alot better now) & was scared to death of everyone except me. :-) She came & crawled in my lap & hid from everyone else & kept noseing my hand for me to pet her. & I knew I had to have her & that she was the one as soon as she looked in my eyes & I picked her up & she kissed my nose. Then that night I had her in a box with blankets next to my bed & I kept my hand in it for her. But in the middle of the night she woke up crying, so I picked her up & calmed her down then put her back in there & she kept crying so I left her in my bed & she cuddled in my arms & now everynight since then she has slept in my arms. ♥ I couldnt love anything more then I love my baby girl. She is soooo attached to me & I am the same way with her. If I am away from her for a couples hours I just wanna come home & since I dont have a good bag for her she cant come alota places with me. I think when you see your Baby you know that its the one & if you dont feel that connection its not the one for you . |
I brought George off the internet and arranged to have him flown up to our nearest airport,1.30 hours away so DH and I left work early to be on time to meet the plane, when the airport offical handed me the carry cage I thought it was empty, so light and no noise, I looked in the back and there was the most beautiful puppy, instant love, got to the car and had to take him out for a cuddle and to give him a drink, couldn't wait to get him home. Its still such a joy to see him when we have been parted if only for a short while, best purchase I have ever made. |
Love it I was looking for months for a yorkie to replace the boy I lost 8 months prior. I didnt want one from a pet store so I found my Gezell in a local newspaper ad. The Mother and Father were at the home with their puppies living around the corner from me! When my husband and I walked in the house Gezell was the first to come running to us. She wouldnt stop biting my husbands shoelaces. Thats when we knew she was the one. Then after picking her and putting a deposit down we started to leave and Gezell came running to the door at us. So glad we found her. She is the most Loving, protective dog ever!!:D |
2 Attachment(s) when I first saw Penny i nearly cried it was love at first site and i would have paid anything for her shes still the most beautiful thing in the world Sienna was not love at first sight for me but its was love at first site for Penny thats was INSTANTLY her baby sister she wanted nothing to do with the male puppy at all that was her baby then and there |
Couver: I found Couver on a Craigslist ad that did not have any pictures. I went to the lady's house and instantly fell in love with his adorable face. He was so scared, but ever since I got him home, he has not left my side :) Khloe: I first saw Khloe through an email from a fellow YT Member. She sent me pictures of her while I was at work... I saw them on my phone, and KNEW she had to come home with me. I met her for the first time after a 4 hour drive to Oregon and got to see all her siblings. She was shy and reserved, but I could tell that she was the one! |
Milou: In Greece we don't have breeders for all kinds of dogs. First time I met a Yorkie was when a colleague of mine brought hers at work. It was love at first site. We went together at the pet shop that she bought her's and we ordered mine. Two weeks later I went to pick my little girl. I picked her up, put her on my heart and she started licking all over me and she haven't stopped licking me since the first day Jean: 5 months later I went to an other pet shop to buy food and I saw a tiny Yorkie in a kennel, I was already looking for a second one because I was already a Yorkie lover. They told me that they had this little puppy for almost 3 weeks in the shop. I went home and I couldn't get her out of my mind. All alone in a kennel for three weeks. Next day I went back and I picked her up. I put her on my heart and she breathed like she glad I put her there. Of course I couldn't let her down after that. Brought her back home with me and we are one happy family ever since Maria |
I love these stories. Here's mine: Lila was gift from an ex-boyfriend. We had been fighting, and he bought her as a make-up gift (I had wanted a yorkie for a while, but couldn't keep one in my apt at the time). So one day during our fight he calls me and tells me, "meet me at dunkin donuts". When I get there we talk, then he walks me outside and makes me close my eyes, and put my hands out. He places Lila in my hands, I open my eyes and see this sweet little yorkie pup. She immediately makes this noise that sounds like a sigh of content (she still makes this sound), puts her head on my chest and looks up at me. We immediately fell in love. Although she lived with him for the first 8 mos of her life, whenever I would come see her she would be attached to my hip. She knew I was her momma. She is a sweet, scaredy-cat cuddlebug, but my ex picked her out because she was beating up her littlermates!! |
