| Going Away... need to leave Remy with a new person - opinions please! We have to go away this weekend - one overnight - and absolutely can not take Remy. All of his usual guardians are unavailable for a variety of reasons... Grrrr I have two options 1) His groomer will dog sit for $25.00. I will leave him at her shop Saturday around 10am, he will be with her all day (not in a crate - he will hang out with her in her office in the back, or will occasionally be up front) and then will go to her home that night. She said he will sleep with her. She lives about 1 minute from me, I will pick him up around 7pm Sunday. Pros - very affordable; and she dog sits other Yorkies - one in particular she watches for weeks at a time bc the owner travels a lot. I've seen those she dog sits in her shop. Cons - Remy has never stayed with her or been to her home. I'm trying to get a grooming appointment today, and will ask her if we could go "visit" her home tonight or Friday which may help. Don't know if the timing will work out to accomplish that or not... Also, he will in her shop, which opens directly on to a city street. I don't want him "escaping".... presumably she will be careful and watch him, altho I have to say I am concerned about it. I will obviously discuss this with her... but I think it will still be on my mind... 2) Remy stays at home, and one of the people that works in our building will either stay in my condo overnight, or will stop in to walk and feed him. If its the latter, he will walk him late in the evening (10/11pm) and be back first thing in the AM again. Remy has no problem holding it overnight, so I'm not worried about that. However, with this scenario Remy would be alone for the night. This person could spend the night (as stated) so Remy would not be alone... Pros - Remy will be in his own environment and does "know" this person (altho this person has never cared for him). I know he can't "escape". Cons - I have someone in my home (who I do trust); don't know what they will charge me; don't know this person has any experience with little dogs. Jack wants him to go to the groomer. I'm so torn!!! What would you do? Last edited by RemydeHaviland; 07-08-2010 at 05:31 AM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | With my dogs I would go with someone in my house for a couple of reasons, I have 4 and they do not do well out of their environment. But if Remy does well with the groomer and won't be upset out of his home then I would go with her.
