| Odd Ball Yorkie Claire is a 6 month old yorkie. I bought her from a breeder, I saw the mom and dad, both yorkies. The mom was 11 lbs and the dad was 5 lbs. I knew Claire would be on the larger size when I picked her out at 12 weeks. She is now close to 10 lbs ( I believe). My main concern is that her fur is more coarse and not long at ALL. Is she just coarse haired, or could she possibly be a mix? I love my girl, but I just want to know she is healthy!! The vet said she is fine, but she is an odd ball yorkie to me!!

| Claire Bear I am new to this, so I am not sure as to how to post a picture. I added a profile picture but it isn't showing up. I have a few pictures on my profile if you could check that out!

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | She looks like a border terrier to me lol but I'm no expert! Have you asked the breeder if her mom and dad were pure bred? EDIT: I have read somewhere that if your pups hair feels wirey then chances are it wont grow long so maybe this is all it it?

| Thanks! I don't think she is a border terrier..she is definitely a yorkie, she just has weird hair! I have conditioned and it has grown some, it is just strange!

| I did some research on past threads and noticed there are many types of coats for yorkies and that it takes two years for them to grow out of their puppy coat..maybe she will grow out of this phase! The breeder is also a groomer, we may be paying her a visit to see what she has to say about my silly yorkie I love my Claire no matter what though!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Yorkies have different types of coats, some do not grow much and are coarse or wiry. If this is the type of coat Claire has there are no hair products that will make it grow but there are conditioners that will make it silkier feeling. I've been using and recommending Iv San Bernard products, their PEK conditioner is absolutely the best hair conditioner I've ever tried, and believe me, I've tried just about all of them. If you would like more information on the ISB products, PM me...or, you can read more here....http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-jencar98.html Btw, your Claire is a cutie!

| Thanks for the advice! I am mostly just worried her hair is going to be stuck in this awkward phase! It pokes her in the eye and such right now! It has grown, just very slowly.

| Just wanted to say hello and welcome! I am certainly not an expert on Yorkie fur, but I do know there are all types. For us... Piccolo had coarse fur while she was a puppy and then it started changing to a more silky texture.
