| Puppies and the beach I have a quick question for you all! As you know I got my puppy Oliver a little over 3 weeks ago and he is attached to the hip with me! Well I'm going to the Outer Banks for a week for the 4th of July and staying at our family's beach. I had planned on bringing Oliver with me (he'll be 3 months old) but I wanted to ask, is that too soon to take him traveling? It's a 5 hour a drive and I'll be able to hold him the whole time so he should be fine, he does really well in the car and loves to take naps on me Also, is he too young to take on the sand?? I had pretty much assumed he was but wanted to get other opinions as well. He has a vet appointment tomorrow morning to get the rest of his shots so I plan on asking her what she thinks. Thanks so much!

| Holiday LOVES going to the beach! I think it's her favorite. She doesn't like water much so we never take her close to the ocean, plus I'd be afraid of a strong wave taking her, but she loves the sand. As long as he has all of his shots I don't see why you can't take him. Have you taken him on drives before? As long as he's never gotten car sick, he should probably be ok but maybe for such a long drive you can bring his crate for him to stay in? |

| He's too small to be out on the beach, especially if other dogs have been there. If I remember right, last vacs are given at 14-16 weeks, and then you wait another 2 weeks after that to ensure full immunity. But, since you did get him early, he might be done with his vacs sooner? Honestly I don't know. I bet one of the awesome breeders on here would know! Plus, NO QUESTION IS TOO STUPID. It shows you really care for your baby and that makes a good mom. I will say, questions like these make me so happy I got Kaji on his first birthday. That same day we took him out to celebrate his birthday and I didn't have to worry about this stuff.

| Thanks so much for replying! Yes he loves car rides and doesn't get sick at all, he went to visit his grandparents this weekend and it was an hour away and he just slept on my lap or played with his toy (granted 5 hours is a big difference). I know bringing him to the beach should be fine as we're staying at my dad's house so he will have his play pen and can run around as usual but I don't think I will let him run around on the sand yet, makes me too nervous. I will however hold him and take cute pictures of his first beach trip!! Thanks so much guys!

| I have taken my girls to OBX, they really enjoyed the beach and the water. My advice to you is watch for the other dogs, waves and sunburn. Have a wonderful trip and take up pictures
