I am however going to be "rescuing" one fairly soon - a friend of a friend is dying of cancer and will be needing homes for her 4 Yorkies. I have promised to take one and give it a forever home.

So since January, I have brought home 2 precious, sweet little puppies. I love them so much and I am having fun spoiling them. With all my children grown up..... youngest is almost 21..... my puppies are my "babies".

There is great rewards to rescuing. I have also rescued ALL of my kitties. And they are also very spoiled and very loved.

They sound like they have a wonderful home with you xx

Yes some rescues in the uk have very strict rules on rehoming which i think are a bit to much
If you are looking again please have a look on the group as a lot of the yorkies are rescued by just normal people who dont have all the rules and regs to follow they just want the dog saved from being gassed or killed by a heartstick and to have a good home

I think a lot of people think rescues will be a problem but i have two twin yorkies who are both 16 and a half and were brought up by me as i had there mum and dad also (not a planed breeding but i kept both pups) and they are no where as well behaved as my rescue yorkie who is a angel.
I also have a shih tzu whos owner could no longer look after and shes a complete brat so sometimes rescues are better behaved than pups you buy and then bring up your self

Animals Without Limits is just a group of people in this area trying to help the stray animal population. It's not a yorkie only group or anything, but they need all the support they can get. I'm going with them Sunday for a dog wash/walk and food drive.

All of my animals are some form of a rescue. I have 2 cats... Yoshi walked into my house and stayed (about 11 years now) Sadie, my husband came home with (a stray from work). 3 dogs... Ivy was a puppy mill rescue, Max was a re home, and Reggie had 2 days till the shelter was going to put him down. Rescues it seems to me know what you did for them and love you all the more because of that.

i have a shelter yorkie : ) apparently his last family didnt want him because he was "impossible" to house train. Which is odd because hes only had a few accidents since hes been here at home. hes the sweetest little doggie so it makes me sad to think a whole family would give him up for no real reason.

I've been looking to adopt yorkies from shelter in NY area, before I got my first furbaby. I went about 5 different shelters and yorkies were always first to get adopted at least in my area I guess.... In NY area, shelters are full of pitbull and pitbull mixes. It is really sad how some people breed them just to produce so called perfect fighting dog! There should be strick law against dog fight. It really made me upset when woopi goldberg said that it is cultural thing in deep south.
