Each country standard is pretty much the same, when they speak of the overall structure and coat of the dog. There are some variances. Great Britian the size is a bit larger than the US. And of course in Europe tail docking isn't allowed. There is also, slight variances of what is a preferance of a look that is shown each country.

If someone uses the word/term in ads, "babydoll face," I know they do not know the sandard or what they are doing. If breeding and usuing this term - I just have to laugh at their either ignorance or their way of trying to get that sell. Tells me a lot about their ethics, or knkowledge of the breed.

Don't just look at photos, since photos can be deceptive and not show you what the yorkie really looks like - just one angle from another can make a yorkie's snout look longer or smaller and can make a yorkie look taller or not. Also the flash of the camera's light when bounced off of a silky coat of a yorkie can make them look lighter. If the photo is taken in shade - it can make a coat look darker. As an amature photographer, when I take photos of my dogs, I always struggle to get a realistic/true image. It takes practice. I have found the best time of the day in in early morning and outside in real light - get the best photos. Problem is - is that sometimes you do not always have this opportunity. Don't forget the problem of getting a good shot of your puppies - you will have behavior to deal with. You might take 50 shots and only get 2 nice shots.

The best way to learn about yorkies, is to go to the shows and get your hands on plenty of yorkies. You need a mentor to have you place your hands over a yorkie and tell you what you are feeling. I will never forget my experience of this when I was learning. Wow!

Well if you read within the standard, ears are mentioned too. But, some indication on this too and keep in mind you want a well balanced head; Ears too tall, bat ears, too wide at the base, sitting on the side of the head (eastie westie ears, a tight ear set is preferable).....ears project animation in a dog.

I'd love it if Uni's coat could grow that long, but it keeps breaking off. But she definitely has too big ears. When she's alert they are too tall, and when she's just relaxing they go to the side, yup, bat ears. LOL!

But that aside, boy is she animated!

Do you shave her ears? I bet if you did they would look smaller. Uni should be in the ring. You need to learn how to wrap her coat.

How perceptive of you. I never noticed Uni's ears....the tips do need to be shaved.

Here's another trick: with blending shears, the hair that hangs on the outside of the ear.....thin it back.

I think this may be the only thing that would make her ears look smaller. LOL See they are tipped!

I'm hesitant to cut anything on her bc her hair is already thin. Plus bf says no cutting her hair except tipping ears and trimming booty.

That's so funny! I call mine Boo Bear! When his hair gets all crazy (which is all the time..I think he prefers it that way because he will rub on anything he can to mess it up) he looks just like a little fuzzy teddy bear.
