Help..Where to put puppy I am hoping someone can help me out here. I am getting a yorkie in 4 weeks and I need an area in the house to put the puppy while I am at work. I don't have any area in my house where a baby gate will fit to confine the puppy to a certain area. Openings to doors are too wide and not even for the pressure gates. I bought the plastic Xpen but I need something that I can put up and take down easily. The plastic pen was a pain in the butt to fold up and take down. What does everyone else do with there puppy when they are not home? Thanks.

I think a lot of them use the xpens. But I dont think they take them down. They just leave them out untill next time.

that is exactly what I do, I have 3 pens up in my rec room and living room, and also large crates in my Kitchen. They are let up all the time, unless we are planning on a gathering at our home, then they are taken down for the day.

| I have 2 plastic baby gates. 1 is screwed to the wall in the laundry room, the other one I use through out the house. Safety 1st Gate, from Target. There adjustable, easy to re-adjust from door way to door way. I put my Woody in the Laundry room. When I have little pups they either go in my bathroom with a gate in the doorway or in the Laundry room. Don't worry I'm sure you can figure a place.

I use an x-pen. Chewy is small so I was able to get one that is meant for gerbils! I have a little bed and all his toys in it and he is quite content. If we are going to be gone for longer than 5 hours, I stick 1/2 the wee pad underneath. I got mine at petco for $20. I think it is a good pen for baby puppies or very small dogs. Here's what it looks like:

| How wide are the openings? They make some pretty wide gates now. Here's one...http://store.babycenter.com/product/...&scid=SSE:NXTG

I LOVE Xpens. And, I do set them up and take them down every day. I have 5 dogs who sleep together in them. If I am gonna be away for a few hours, I set the pen up in the kitchen and put any dogs I am concerned about in them. That would be young puppies, preg or sick dogs and so on. I have had them chew the mouldings and I thing the metal Xpens are best. They fold flat and can be taken anywhere. Buy a plastic tablecloth that has flannel on the back and use it as a base to the pen when you are traveling or such..They just work best for me..

Playpens work great when they are little. I also got a colapsible crate that is pretty big at Target a while back. We used it when we went camping. It is the pup up kind with the zipper door. I was only $20 too.

i use a 3 foot by 2 foor closet hi, i use a 3 foot by 2 foot closet and a baby gate. in there i have his crate a bed and a litter box and food, water and toys so he has everything he needs. he only stays in there a few days a week for 8 hours max. he sleeps alot because he is a puppy so my cleaning lady who is home says she never hears a peep out of him. recently it got cold up her in il so i have put blankets on the bottom and i am considering putting batting and some fleece fabric on the walls to ensure his little "palace" is warm. the closet is in my bathroom and was originally for linens. luckily the shelfs don't start til about 4 feet off the ground. any ?'s feel free to e-mail me at reich1514@comcast.net. good luck. michelle

I use the metal x-pen. It is in panel and foldable (very easy to put up). My little yorkie is a little monkey. He is only 3 lbs but he can jump over gates and climb over x-pen. I've to put a plastic sheet on top of the x-pen so he cannot climb over it.
