IMO if your willing to take him in then you are agreeing with her on USING THIS dog as a stud!! I wouldn't even think twice about taking him. You are only getting on her level.

This is a tough one. On one side, Rico needs out of that home ASAP!!!
On the other side, if you take him and follow her rules, you're supporting an awful backyard breeder. Or should I say "greeder." I was thinking, what if you give her some money for him (you made it sound like Rico was free) and have a receipt for him. That makes him your "property" now and having him neutered will be your right as his new owner. You could use the excuse that in case he gets sick and needs emergency care, you want to show that you are the rightful owner and can make decisions towards his care. I doubt someone like this would have you sign a contract stating he is *not* to be neutered.

This byb is pure scum. If it were me, I'd "agree" to her terms, then once she came by looking for him say, Oh he ran away, or someone stole him. Then get him neutered. Poor guy, he deserves so much better.

I gotta quit reading these things. I'm tempted, but would want to get him fixed. He's young enough to be trained. He's beautiful and looks just like my 18 month old female who is 3 lbs.

Oh this is sad, I imagine neutering will stop some of the humping, and belly bands can help with the marking. I would probably get him and have him neutered and try to rehome him if my husband was throwing a fit.

His humping a lot may be due to the fact that she has already been using him as a stud even though he is just a baby. Since he doesn't have papers anyway she probably doesn't care about his age.

In my opinion it will be hard for you to get rid of some of his bad habits if he is used as a stud. I don't think fully intact males are as easy to live with due to marking and humping issues.

I realize your heart is in the right place but even if he is a tiny guy he could cause big issues between you and your other pets and your husband.

I would only take him if there are no strings attached and he should be neutered immediately. Tell her your requirements then let her think about it. Maybe she will come around.

Sounds like ALOT to take on. And may be very difficult to train him, since he has been living his entire life inside a kennel.

However, if someone were to adopt this dog..... I would hope the new owner would immediately go have him neutered. This woman, needs to be stopped with what she is trying to do.

I believe it would NOT be in the best interest of this poor little dog, to have that woman be able to visit with him. After all, she does not want him. Does not want to take full responsibility by keeping him and training him herself.

I rescued a sweet yorkie years ago that I realize now, was from a back yard breeder. This poor little girl was over bred and really was not being well cared for. I almost did not take her but I felt sorry for her and worried about what would happen, if I did not take her home with me. I brought this girl home, gave her a good bath and she became a very happy and very loved little girl for the last years of her life. Cricket passed away in 1995, in her sleep of a heart attack. No symptoms or warning signs.... prior to this happening. I was so heartbroken and could not bring myself to having another dog since losing "Cricket".... until this year. Now I have a 6 month old Pomeranian puppy and a 4 month old yorkie puppy. I am loving every moment of being "Mommy" to my two puppies.

I pray for this poor little yorkie. I pray someone will take him in and give him the love and attention that he needs. And will get him neutered, keeping him far away from this woman that currently has him.

Then I'll nuter him, train him to be a therapy dog as I'm doing with my current dog and love him as part of my family.

I'm pretty sure the "visits" would coincide with needing his sperm for breeding. Sounds like she doesn't want to deal with belly bands, marking, and humping behaviors that come with a stud dog and keeping him in a cage is easier. If someone else is willing to put up with the behaviors she isn't, and she still has access to his sperm, it's a win/win for her. I don't think there is any one that is not going to breed a male that would have the long term patients to tolerate a behavior that is normal for breeding males. And expecting to train it away without neutering I believe is an unreasonable expectation for you and him. This person is completely self centered and selfish but unless you are able to lower the testosterone with a neuter, you're setting yourself up for failure.

At such a tiny size i would be worried about neutering him.He also may have an allergy to ansthesia so i would def find out her reasoning.Most likely he would continue to hump after a neuter although maybe not as excessive.
It would be a lot to take on if she crated him so much why does she care so much about visiting the poor little guy.It is hard to untrain circliling .
