| I think #2 or #3 would be your best choices. When I got my yorkie we meet the guy at a McDonalds parking lot and this was before I knew about puppy mills. It ended up after learning about puppy mills and researching where I got Callie (my yorkie) that she came from a puppy mill.

| Number 2 sounds like your best bet to me...just definitely not number 1. Do you know anything about number 3's breeder? And I agree, seems like a house-buying show!!

| I say none of the above. Just because someone contacted you here doesn't not mean they are reputable. We have a lot of members who lurk behind the scenes just waiting to pounce on someone asking about puppies. There are some great threads pinned at the top of the Yorkies For Sale section that will help you find a puppy from a reputable breeder. | I agree with the above. Find a reputable breeder.

| If a person wants to sell the dog out of a parking lot, I'd wonder if the pup was stolen.

Also, OP, if you haven't researched the breeder that is choice #2, DO NOT BUY! It doesn't matter that they are a YT member. When you acquire a puppy, you buy your breeder first. You want someone that will stand by you for the next 15 years.

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | To your question as to whether papers matter for a companion dog:I've had both and honestly loved them all equally. Some may disagree with me here, but papers don't mean squat if you've teamed up with a less than stellar breeder. Without knowing the details of how you came in contact w/ #2, it does seem strange to have them contact you to sell a yorkie. Just a thought, but if you decide papers aren't essential in your search then you may want to consider a rescued pup. You could be saving 2 lives and still have a fantastic companion.

| when i went to PA for my first yorkie there were three people already there looking at puppies. they had the puppies in 2 large extended playpens linked together in their garage. their house from the outside was nice, they had a pond in their front yard and a big back yard but i still asked to see where the puppies were whelped and where they lived. they had the dam walking around the garage who was friendly and trying to play with everyone who came in the door but i still asked about the sire. don't be afraid to ask questions, even if it may sound a little imposing. |

| You definitely buy your breeder first. It took me a month to find my baby Zach. Lola was a rehome and never stayed in contact with the lady I got her from. With Zach I am constantly emailing with the breeder still and she is so wonderful! I found her on YT and she has been so great and honest about everything. I couldn't be happier with Zach and he truly is a blessing! I wouldn't even be considering someone who wanted to meet me some where, really fishy! |
