| Funny story... does your Yorkie do this? It has been really hot here in Charlotte the past couple of weeks, and Baxter is either out of shape, or getting hot in the sun! Every time we go on a walk and he walks through a patch of soft grass in shade, he plops down and looks up at me with his tongue hanging out. He usually rolls in the grass then looks back up at me. He's like, "What? I need a break." Then a second later, he gets up and prances onward. I just stop whenever he wants to and laugh at him, because he is so darn cute! Anyone else's doggy do this?

| Katie does that! She knows the shade is cooler. Uni doesn't care.

| You know it's hot when the furbutts refuse to walk. Kaji did this too recently on one of our hikes. He is usually running up and down smelling everything possible. It was so hot on our last hike, he plopped down every 5 mins. I ended up carrying him a lot of the way.

YT 500 Club Member | I have been amazed that mine likes snow much better than hot weather. She loves to go out in the snow, but she just doesn't do well in the heat. She won't walk very far if it is hot out.

| We've had hot weather lately too....hot for us at least. Our trainer said to be careful because the furbabies can burn their feet on the hot cement. I never thought about that...it might be like walking on hot cement with bare feet. My two are still young and I'm not sure if they've developed hard enough calluses yet, so I've been careful. I put them in their pool...and that seems to cool them off.

| Jackson's done this a few times! He's such an outdoor doggy too so ya know it's hot when he lays down in the middle of our walk... LOL.

| Just make sure the cement is not to hot...it seriously could be a problem in that heat...and that is why he is moving off of the sidewalk...

| Callie has done that a few times she really hates the hot hot weather. Shes is like her mommy and loves the ac lol. When my parents come over and they go out back (she has a doggie door) she will go out with them for like 3 seconds then come back in and watch them from the glass slidding door and if you try to play fetch with her out back when its hot its not gonna happen she will get the toy and take it inside. Then of course at the doggy park if shes hot she will just climb right in the water bucket they have and stand there looking around like ahhhh this is nice.

| You guys are really making me jealous with all this 'hot weather' talk. The best I can say for Canada is it's not snowing

I wish it were a few degrees cooler. My Brandi refuses to walk when it's hot too. You would think I am torturing her. I let her out back and she plops right down. Now I only walk her in the evening. She has little more pep in her step. Any other time and I can forget it. A couple of times I had to pick her up and carry her back too. My Brandi is such a drama queen! | |
