				   | Thank you for such a warm welcome a d your advice! To answer a few questions Bentley is 3 lbs 1oz and alot of fluffy hair we have thought About the play pen During the day to give him more space we have a cat and an apartment so we don't have anywhere to let him roam that isn't dangerous or carpet. We may try the bathroom but being in the room with animal planet on tv seems to calm him. Potty training is our biggest concern we are trying crAte training but I don't wNt him to spend every hour in te crate and he has been going in there at night. I've heard some having luck with a bell we may try that. The potty pads he sniffs right past to use the carpet the few times he's gone inside but he's been very good about going out and reacts well to the praise today was his checkupand he does have a respiratory infection (upper only) and a little intestinal parasitewhich I've read andbeen told are both somewhat expected with a puppy adjusting to being home. Any personal tidbits I appreciate I've already learned So much from your posts. |

				   | What I have done since my apt, and the condo we use to live in was fully carpeted was get a plastic runner from Staples or home depot. I made his pen small, so all I needed was the plastic runner that goes under desk chairs to let them roll easily. It can help protect your carpet if you decide to go the ex-pen route. If you are already well on your way with crate training, stick with it. Many have had success with it as long as the pup was set up for success (giving them plenty of opportunities to potty in the right place). If you're determined to switch to the ex-pen, that's ok too. It's just some people, like me, hate the idea of having a pup confined for so long. The ex-pen confined him to a safe space, and he was on that plastic runner so any accidents wouldn't hurt the carpet.

				   | Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I am also a new "Mommy" to a yorkie puppy. I personally love having the XT Pen for my puppy. I have it set up in our kitchen. I put "Princess" her food and water bowls, bed and blanket, toys, pee pad and pad holder. This helps with training, keeping our puppy safe. When ever I am not home, Princess will use her pee pad for potty. I have been working hard at training her to go potty outside. Pee training is working well. Potty to go Poop is not happening outside yet. Princess is only 4 months old, so I know I just need to be patient and keep working with her. She just now is getting the going outside for pee. My other puppy, a Pomeranian was completely potty trained to go outside before he was 4 months. Hoping Princess will soon be completely trained also. |
