History and Origin The Yorkshire Terrier originated from Yorkshire, the North of England. The Yorkshire Terrier's history started in the middle of the 19 centuries. The onset of the Industrial Revolution being in England in that time, many former agricultural workers came to Yorkshire to seek work at coal mines, textile mills and factories. Some of them brought their dogs - various types of terrier of that time to catch rats. The crosses between those dogs produced the original Yorkie. At first, the Yorkshire Terrier was a much bigger than today's Yorkie, but by selectively breeding the smallest individuals, the dog was gradually miniaturized over the years. They were made into a toy dog. The Yorkshire Terrier appeared fist time on a dog show in 1870. In 1874 the first the Yorkies were registered in the British Kennel Club stud book. I'm sure everyone has seen how the yorkie came about. And if Someone was wanting to create a new breed. IE (labradoodle) (Porkie) and others they may just one day be a regestered pure breed. JMO |

There are a lot of years, money and dedication into creating a new true purebred including many generations of them 'breeding true'. If you don't know what 'breeding true' is go back and do your homework. |
Yeah I see people saying lots of other breeds were put together to make the purebred you see today but those people were doing it for a better reason then to sell cute expensive designer dogs. I highly doubt that 99 percent of the people who calle themselves designer dog breeders put a whole lot of thought into what two purebreds they are going to put together |

just so you know this is what I was trying to say. I do not and will never be a breeder of designer dogs. the point i was trying to make states it's self in the origin of the yorkie I posted. And I don't agree with paying big $$$ for mix breeds. |
It's a new thing people are doing mix breeding, everyone is entitled to there own opinion but personally i think its okay. Its not like i took 2 mixed breed dogs and breed them they both are akc purebreds. |
Hey Jewels Has Mama Had The Babies Yet? Im So Excited For You. I Plan On Breeding My Yorkie And My Pom. My Yorkie Is Ckc And I Am Trying To Get Papers On My Pom ( She Didnt Orginally Have Papers) Yorkies/poms, Are A Big Thing Right Now, When I Got Pixie There Was 3 Adds Of Yorkie/poms $650.00 When I Called To See How They Breeders Were Doing In Selling The "desinger Breeds" They Said The Pups All Got Deposit W/in The Week. Then There Are Some Breeders That Are On Line And This One Lady Sells Them For $900.00 (very Nice Breeder Too, Not All Are $900.00) Now I Think That Is Way To Much For A Mix But I Was Willing To Pay $500.00 For My Magnum Who Was A Yorkie/mix And I Would Do It Again. I Have Been Stoped And Offered Money For The Both Magnum And Little Girl. I Know People Dont Like It But The Mixes Are Very Popular Right Now. I Have Been Planning This For A Long Time, I Have The Contracts Drawn Up The Puppy Packages Draw Up Quotes From The Vets Etc.. But Mine Are Still Young Right Now So I Have A While. |
I Was Reading Some Of The Post I Missed Earlier About Mixing And Not Know What You Are Getting, Which Could Be True, Unless You Already Have One And Use The Same Line. Like Little Girls Brothers And Sisters Look A Like All Of Them, One Of Her Sisters Was Bred W/ A Yorkie And They Had Puppies, Same Look, Just The Colors Were Much Richer..so If You Use The Same Line U Know What To Expect But When Mating A Yorkie And Pom For The First Time Ur Right, U Dont Know What You Are Going To Get. Ive Seen Some That Look Like Yorkies, Some Like Poms And Some Like Crazy Mixes And Some That Took Traits From Each And Look Amazing |
