WOW...Thats just disgusting.... |
:eek::eek: Since her email address is given, I'll bet she hears from a lot of YT'rs about this. |
I just sent her an email and I ain't interested in buying a ticket!!!! I simply wrote: I recently read that you are giving away a Yorkie in a drawing. This is upsetting on so many levels. I am part of a social networking site that devotes all its time, funds, and energy of 60,000 members to the Yorkshier Terrier breed. To see this pup being given to anyone willing to buy a ticket is just wrong. What happens if the person decides they no longer want a puppy? Where will this puppy end up then? I would like to suggest you research a little on the overpopulation of animal shelters everywhere because people get a puppy on a whim. Also, look into the world of puppymills, facilities ran by "greeders" looking to make a quick buck off the back of poor, defenceless dogs. I am certain these are the majority of people who will be taking a chance and buying a ticket for your drawing. I work in the field of educattion and know the funds are seriously lacking for our academic and athletic programs. However, I do not feel this justifies putting a life at stake. Please reconsider your means for raising funds. Sincerly, Amanda, avid Yorkie lover |

Raffling off any living thing (especially a tiny yorkie) should be illegal :( . |
That is horrifying. I sent an email as well. To the OP - where did you find this information? |

I sent her an email as well. THis is what I wrote. If enough of us send her an email she may reconsider her decision to raffle off this little gal. Quote:

Just emailed her.... Dear LaRissa Thomas, I was just made aware that you will be raffling off a "tiny female Yorkie" as a means to get money for your team. I realize that there is a lack of money to fund athletic programs, now more than ever before, but PLEASE re-think your choice of a prize. Puppies are not a good choice to give as a present or win as a prize. I'm sure you must be aware of that. How many people have bought puppies as presents at Christmas only for the new owner to sell, give away, or worse - give the dog to the local humane society? Probably more than you'd like to know. And if you doubt that I'm telling you the truth... just call any dog pound, humane society, or rescue. I'm not sure who donated this puppy but if they're a member of The Yorkshsire Terrier Club of America they are breaking the rules and should be reported. If there is absolutely no way out of this then PLEASE spay this poor baby BEFORE she goes to anyone's home! Sincerely, |

good job yt'ers in sending her emails. i just saw this now. One of my customers won a yorkie in the exact same way. 2 years ago at a carnival. they family wanted a yorkie bc they fell in love with Uni, and the little boy bought 12 raffle tix and won her. She ended up with a good nice family, but imagine if she hadn't! But the fact that this good nice family supported whoever was raffling her off in the first place! I didn't have the heart to tell them when they told me. i just didn't know what to say. |

Good job, YTers.....I just checked; the AD HAS BEEN REMOVED!!:bravo::bravo: |
Based on her ad (bowling green school, lady bucs), I think I've narrowed the school down to this one. Maybe it would be a good idea to email the athletic director and ask that they prevent this from happening. Bowling Green School - Franklinton, Lousiana |
That is unbelievable! A small group of people really CAN make a difference. |
