| I don't bother about rude...I am, constantly, looking ahead of me, and behind me, from time to time...First sign of a big dog, and Apple, Buzz & I look both ways & cross the street, smiling all the way lol...They usually get the picture ... |

| Sounds to me like you were just being a good mommy. That is your job, protection always comes first. And retractable leashes were a dumb invention IMHO. |

| Well if you are rude then so am I. We went camping a few weeks ago and I was walking on a trail with my 3 dogs and we came up on a young guy with his golden that was NOT on a leash. His dog came running over and mine seem to get more upset when other dogs are not on a leash. The dumb guy just looks at me, not getting a leash out or even holding his dog. Well my guys are barking at his dog and now his dog is getting mad (teeth are now showing) I screamed at the guy GET YOUR DOG ON A LEASH! Some times I would love to just slap people.

| I don't think that was rude at all. If it hurts a big dog owner's feelings, I'd rather do that than risk one of mine being hurt. You just can never tell what that big dog might do. So many big dog owners say, "my dog won't hurt your yorkie" Once when Maddie was little, a dog she had been around before, who had never hurt a flea, attacked her for no reason. Since then, I just won't trust any large dog around my yorkies.

| I don't think you were rude at all. I allow Levi to play with bigger dogs (some of his favorite friends are big dogs!) but only if they are well-behaved, calm, and properly monitored by their owner, and of course if I am there to supervise and run interference if needed. A stranger with a poorly controlled big dog could be a scary situation. |
