He's 2.2lbs and just 4 months old. He still has a lot of growing to do and a lot of stages to go through. Congrats on the success with him so far but please don't think you are in total clear water yet. You have many, many, many more months of change to go through. I am very happy your DJ is doing so well but please don't discount the help you were given on this forum. It may not have been your intention but your post rather came off as a slap on the face to many who offered you help. Your success has been due to your perseverance AND ALSO following the good advice given here. I am very glad to hear DJ is doing so well and hope he continues to thrive. I'm just saying a simple Thank You YT would have been nice to hear as well.

But my husband and I took in 2 tiny yorkies many years ago at the age of 4 weeks. I have a friend who breeds these little angels and have know her for about 35 years now.

The mommy of these 2 pups, (Angel and Mirikal) died and my friend was sick with cancer at the time and so my husband and I took the 2 little babies and hand fed them.

My friend got better and we were going to return them to her but we just couldn't part with them so she let us keep them of course Well those 2 puppies did wonderful without a mommy to care for them.

I had experience with raising up orphaned puppies and kittens, so this is not something people should take on. But both pups grew up to be healthy all of their lives. Angel lived to be 16 years old and Mirikal lived to be almost 19 years old. They died naturally and were the light of our life.

We just got another yorkie 4 months ago, he was 4 months old. We got him from the same woman who is still my friend He is almost 9 months old now and just a wonderful boy with a beautiful full coat and he goes everywhere with us.

My husband is a Physician and I am a Nurse Practitioner and my husband and I have our own practice in Boise Idaho. We took the girls with us every day to work their whole life's and now Wally goes to work with us every day as well. All of our patients just adore him, he greets everyone and even goes in when we are seeing patients.

I wish you the best with your pup and hope he lives a very long happy life like our 2 girls did..

While it is amazing that you were able to raise 4 week old yorkies, your situation is much much different from the OP's. What was done in her case was illegal and immoral. You were helping an ill friend, which is honorable, but the OP's story, which also started in tragedy, did not have to go the route it did. This pup crossed state lines, which is illegal, and although his mommy dog died, it is a breeders responsibility to raise a young pup, not an inexperienced first time puppy mom. Everyone who responded to all of the OP's threads did so with the best of intentions. Great breeders that are members of this site urged her to hold off so her pup would have a greater chance at a happy successful life, as well as many passionate yorkie owners. I think it's safe to say everyone is ecstatic DJ is doing well.

This comes off as encouragement for others that don't want to wait 12-14 weeks to get their pups. Comes off as "if you have internet to research stuff, feel free to get that little cutie at 6 weeks, cause I did it with the help of the internet, and look how healthy he turned out".
Oh and Rizzo didn't start barking until about a week ago, and he's 5 months now so don't mark you pup as a non barker yet.
Should you really be sleeping in a bed with a 2lb dog? I only let my 4 pounder in bed with me because he sleeps on my shoulder so I feel if he starts moving around. Something that is only 2 pounds may be too light to feel if he starts moving around because he gets bored. I'd be wary about him jumping off in the middle of the night, but then again, maybe you have stairs. Just a thought...

Surely, you wouldn't think anyone on YT was hoping that he wasn't doing good! Everyone loves Yorkies here!

I just don't want anyone who sees this to be encouraged and think it's a great idea to get a baby at such a young age!
So for anyone who is looking for a puppy & sees this, please read past posts with the OP on the issues along the way with biting, potty problems, sleeping issues, etc..
I'm glad DJ is doing good, but it's still best to wait to get a puppy at 12 weeks and hopefully avoid some of the problems you posted about & asked for help on!

I wasn't here during all this, but one would think that if someone reached out for help and despite misgivings others stepped up to the plate and offered good, appropriate advice, that said person would at least come back and say "thanks for helping me save my dog". IDK, maybe that's just me.
