| First Grooming For Satch ! I took Satch to Terre Haute today for his first grooming and was I ever a wimp!! First I asked if the lady had groomed very young dogs and she replied that she had.I told her that he would probably show himself ,such as wiggles, growling and baring teeth. She said ,no problem ,they all do that at first.I said I don't want him traumatized and she said not to worry.By that time my step daiughter was ready to strangle me and I was told not to let Satch see me nervous or he would be too.I handed him over to the groomer and headed straight for the bathroom where no one would see me drying my eyes All went well and he is so handsome,he slept in my arms all the way home and is now wrestling everything he comes in contact with including me so I best get off here and entertain him Please tell me I am not the only one that had a hard time dealing with a first separation to a groomer

| I dont think that you are the only one! Its like we are handing over a peice of our heart to be trusted by a stranger. I felt the same way with Yoda's first groom. I think you just told all of us how much love that you hold in your heart for him!

| Oh my gosh! You sound just like me. I took Carlee into our newly opened PetSmart to inquire about grooming. After asking several questions, I was told I could even have her done that day, if I wanted. I really wanted some time to "think" about it and really thought I would eventually "chicken out" and cancel, so I made it for over a week away. Well, I decided to go through with it, but not until I made one more stop in there first for Carlee to meet her groomer. When the day came, I just made up my mind that it had to be done, and dropped her off. I kept myself busy at the mall for the next two hours, thought that was plenty long for them to have my baby and went back to the store. They were just putting in her bow and she was ready to go. I was so thankful that I tipped pretty generously! Anyway, here's Carlee!!!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I think you asked some great questions. We didn't ask those at the first groomer we took him to, and when we got him back he was strangely quiet. Either traumatized or drugged, in our opinion. The groomer denied both, but we stopped going there and haven't the same problem since.

Satch is 11 weeks old today!! I understand what you mean about the hair changing color, the picture that is posted shows more gold on his head but it is only on the tips now.The hair is coming in silver and is really prominant since his grooming.I took him to PetSmart and am pleased with the results plus the fact that the groomer seemed like a very calm lady.I was told that if I wanted to watch to please stay out of Satch's line of vision as he would get too excited and make handling him hard on both him and the groomer. The main reason I had Satch groomed at such an early age was because of the hair around his eyes.It was getting long and I know it was hard to see around the strays that were in front of him.I don't feel confident enough to do it myself. She also cleaned up around his tummy and bottom .I hope to be able to keep him combed and brushed so that he does not have to go back for at least 6 weeks. Our next venture is to the vets office and neither one of us is going to like that a bit !!

| No, not the only one. The first time I took Princess, I couldn't leave her. It was something about the Groomer I didn't like, I think it was her answers to my questions, She acted like I had no reason to ask questions. I was very lucky a week later, I found a new Groomer who not only was a good Groomer, but a Yorkie Breeder too. But I still couldn't wait for my cell phone to ring, I even sat in the parkinglot reading my book waiting. When she called, I went right in there, she laughed at me and told me I must be a really fast driver.

| Satch is such a cute name. I'd love to see his picture. I bet he looks so handsome. I'm always afraid what their gonna look like when their done, so I've been trying to keep it trimmed myself. |
