| Crates... Ok I have a big problem. Bazinga has giardia...and is starting his 4th round of meds today. We indoor potty train and leave Bazinga in his bathroom overnight so he has access to food, water, and his pee-pad. We've decided that he's re-infecting himself because he eats his poop if we don't immediately remove it out of his room. My vet recommended crating him overnight, to avoid him deficating at night. When we got Bazinga, I bought a 200 series Dog Whisperer crate, one of the plastic ones w/ the wire door & wire top. He HATES it. He cries and cries when we put him in it. I also bought a little canvas dog carrier from Petsmart, that he really likes. It's canvas, a lot smaller than crate, but he can still turn around in it & has a bolster bed in the bottom. For some reason he will even go lay in it for no reason. This tells me that he feels safe there. My husband wants Bazinga to like the other crate, so he says that we're gonna crate Bazinga in it over night tonight...HELP! Is it possible he doesn't feel safe in the other crate because it's too big?? I just don't know what to do. And my hubby says "we bought it, so he's gonna like it..." which us women folk know isn't true....but maybe I'm babyin' him too much.

| Can you add a box at the back and put a blanket over it? I don't know how BIG it is, so I don't know. That would make it smaller and perhaps he would feel more secure that way?

| Do you have your crate in your bedroom? Darwin hated his crate and cried for the first couple of nights - we then brought the crate into our bedroom right next to my side of the bed and I just dangled my hand in front so he could smell and lick my hand - now he's happy at night time and will run in there without hesitation. Good luck! |

| Do keep him by u in the crate. He is not feeling happy without u, If u put him by your bed at night in the crate and turn the tv on he will relax. With the sound of people. |

| Would the canvas crate fit inside the other crate by chance. Just a thought. |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | How big is the crate? It should only be big enough for him to lie down and turn around in.. any bigger and he will potty in the crate because he can sleep at the other end away from the mess. You should put the crate in your bedroom so he feels your company, this will relax him. He will eventually like the crate and see it as his den, he will cry at first because hes young and not used to it.. give him a treat when he goes into the crate and he will learn to like it. Good luck!

| Thanks everyone. We put Bazinga in the crate in our bedroom and it seemed to help a lot. He only cried for a few minutes.
