| You might want to read the recent thread on here 'why does she run from us?' (it is now on page two). You will find that some yorkies tend to act like that without coming from an abusive situation. But, also your yorkie may like other poster said, 'need time and patience to settle in to the new environment'. Since you have had a yorkie in the past you know that they have very special and unique qualities. |

| welcome to YT!! I can tell you from experience that your dog will come around with love and patience, most of all gentleness. My jack-a-poo would not even let us pet her when we got her so I had to gain her trust by holding my hand open and letting her sniff and I would praise her every time she came near me. She eventually let me pet her and now she is one of the most loveable dogs I have ever had. So just give your little one lots of praise and love and it will come back to you in time

| Hi there and welcome to yt ! your little guy needs time to adjust , and may have come from a bad enviroment , I feel bad for him, however now that he is in a safe and loving home he ought to come around . When my pup was very young I use to sit down on the floor and let her come to me , she was more responsive to that then me trying to pick her up myself. With a lot of time and patience your new yorkie should make a complete turn around .

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | It's so sad to read about puppies being fearful - they should be rolling around on the floor having a blast....being a puppy with no care in the world I agree with everyone - just take it one day at a time and let him come around ...I hope they weren't too abusive ...plus he just endured a plane trip too and imo - that would be a little traumatizing for any dog - especially one who possibly had no human contact good luck ! I bet with lots of love and patience he comes around and welcome |

| I think you might just need to give him his space. He will follow you around when his good and ready. Poor baby might just be scared of the new enviroment. In a couple of day's he will be running around wagging his tail I'm sure. Good luck!!

| THANKS....Everyone for the great advice it has been a great help. I do believe slowly he is coming around! He's even going outside to use the bathroom rather than marking my house so we are making strides! Still very skiddish but loving also! Took him to the vet and they said his biggest problem is his mindset is he's the dominant dog and we have to work with him to teach him otherwise! Thanks again |
