How do you explain your biewer? Whenever I go somewhere with my biewer, Maddox, I'm always asked what kind of dog he is. Even the people at my vet's office ask when we go in. The first time I got this question I wasn't prepared and I went into a long spiel about tri-colored yorkies, Germany and blah blah blah. I quit talking when I finally noticed the person's eyes had glazed over. :p So now I just tell people that he's a yorkie - a parti colored yorkie. Most people accept that easily and let me go on my way. How do others of you with biewers answer this question? |
I'm interested in this answer too. I don't have one but have thought about it for the future but when I talk about them to people, I'm not sure how to describe them besides saying they are "like" a parti-colored Yorkie. I've read so many threads about these Biewers but still am not sure of a good "short answer". |
A rare new breed developed in Germany, that will look just like a tri-colored Yorkie in full coat, when full grown. |
I say, "She's a Biewer Yorkie" and leave it at that. If they ask further and are truly interested, then I explain further with a condensed version, something like, "Biewers are a variation of the Yorkie that originated in Germany that has an end result of these 3 colors instead of the typical YT blue and tan." |
I live in a rural area and Bogie and my mom's Biewer are the only 2 we know about. I get asked about Bogie any time we are out. I usually just say he is a Biewer yorkie and he is from Germany, and that his breed is still pretty new in the United States. |

I simply say mine are biewers and a breed which originated in Germany. |
Silly question, but when you tell someone your pup is a biewer yorkie, do you pronounce it correctly kind of like beevah or do you slip up like I sometimes do and call them b-yoo-ers? |

I don't know why the name has never been pronounced in an American way...poodles originated in Germany and we don't call them...poodals which is how it's pronounced over there. |

Ya'll are funny:p...I had only heard the b-yoo-ers pronunciation and after coming on YT learned the Biva pronunciation. I for the life of me have the hardest time saying Biva for some reason.:D B-yoo-ers is stuck in my brain too. |
Well now I can go to sleep at 2 in the afternoon and I have learned something today!! I have been advocating and advertising the particolored Yorkshire Terrier and even mentioning the Biewer (b-yoo-er) for a few years now in this Way North state O mine...LOL..:D never gave it a thought that I was pronouncing it all wrong. So to my cousin Biewer (BIVA) pals I am so sorry. Not sure I will be able to convince my brain otherwise at this point. I just think these dogs are so striking and beautiful that particolored Yorkie/Biewer or whatever they are called hopefully in my lifetime will be walking in the ring at an AKC dog show. Whenever someone sees mine on the street walking with a standard or 2 they have to stop and ask. I educate and educate....change happens with one person at a time...:p |
I'm glad you told those of us not in the know how to say their name. I sure would have messed it up. They are gorgeous! |

Live in a fairly large city and get the same thing, people are always asking what kind of dog she is. Am pretty sure she is the only biewer here.:) |
I was told to watch these videos on how to pronounce *Biewer*. They're by a German woman, and just hilarious to watch - she keeps saying "You're a Biva like Diva." They're where I learned they weren't called b-yoo-ers. :D |
Most of us in the beginning said "beavers" instead of "bivas"..I still do from time to time. I just say they are a Yorkshire Terrier from Germany. |
Well I think she is saying "beaver" most of the time she is putting a "r" at the end. |

OMG it does sound like she is saying Beaver....or Beevair to be more correct. I just love the dog, looks like she is embarrassed by her skinmomma...lol:D |
I get asked everytime I am out with Brody. I say that he is a Ba-Vay Yorkie and people just look at me like I am wierd~!:animal36 |

:D :D :D I heard that!!!!! *giggle* the way I explain the twins is I tell them they are a Biewer (Be-vair) Yorkie that originated in Germany around 1984. I love saying the Be-vair because when I speak German, (only know a couple words, teehee) Nappy does all sorts of funny things with his ears, its soooo CUTE!!! I think he remembers the language :):) If they ask "what are they mixed with?" then I go into the history as I understand it ;) and the eyes start to glaze over, lol |
