Well, Mickey is a beautiful BEEVA yorkie! My mabel looks just like a black & tan yorkie but when we go out folks still ask what kind of dog she is! :confused:

From what MK says, it sounds like maybe some of them remember their native German. But, neither Maddox or Jordy have an accent that I can hear. :rolleyes:

the way I explain the twins is I tell them they are a Biewer (Be-vair) Yorkie that originated in Germany around 1984.
I love saying the Be-vair because when I speak German, (only know a couple words, teehee) Nappy does all sorts of funny things with his ears, its soooo CUTE!!! I think he remembers the language :):)

If they ask "what are they mixed with? :confused:" then I go into the history as I understand it ;) and the eyes start to glaze over, lol
That was a secret I never wanted you to know, MK!! I felt guilty when I finally figured out I'd been saying her name wrong. ;) Usually I just think of them all as "MK's gorgeous babies." :D

This is my first post and I am a Biewer mom as well. My girl, Brianna is 16 wks. Till now I have been a lurker on the forum, but the pronunciation part of this thread got the better of me (lol) I have a friend, (another Biewer mom) who pronounces it Bee-Veer and my breeder pronounced it Bee-Vay. How does Mrs. Biewer pronounce it?
When asked about Bri's breed, I say that she is a German breed, not commonly seen in the US. If they are interested I will go further.

This is more confusing than the correct pronunciation of Porsche. :p

Interesting...I always wondered the correct way to pronounce it. I'd LOVE to have one...they are beautiful! One day when I decide it's time for a sibling for my two.......

Same here. Someone always says--are they Yorkies? And I say they are like firrst cousins to the Yorkies but they keep their tails, have wonderful temperments, and different coloration.

Hmm...every Biewer breed history page I have read claims the Biewer originated in a litter produced by two purebred yorkies. And they breed true when bred to yorkies of any color. IMO..it just feels untruthful to call them "cousins" when history and pedigree's prove they are yorkies.

When people ask me about my "beautiful colored yorkies"...I just tell them they are tri yorkies. If I try and tell them that one originated in Germany and the other in the USA...they get a puzzled look and say..."but they look like the same dog, except one has a tail". So tri colored yorkie works for me.

That's what I say too!!!!:D - Lizzie's dad is a Biewer (I saw him) and she has some white but not much - plus she seems to have smaller eyes than Mr. Darcy.

Isn't the correct way to say it be-vah? Sorry...I hacked that up, don't know how else to write it. I knew someone who called them beavers...like the kind that hack up wood! LOL. Drives me nuts when people pronounce things wrong so I really would like to know! One of my mom's friends called oprah O-PHRAH...ugh. LOL.

I have a Biva, she really is a Diva! My Haley and my bosses wifes Heidi arw the only two I I know of around here.

Yes... they say 'wolf' as oppossed to 'wuff'.


And my appologies to MK: I thought 'Nappy' had bad hair! I thought 'Why would she name her dog 'Nappy"?' Never dawned on me it was short for 'Napoleon'! Sorry! :sidesplt:

LOL! Its ok, I get that alot :D

What's even funnier is, I never knew people called diapers, nappys, long ago :eek: which explains some of the reactions when I tell people his name is Nappy, hahahaha! But I've learned to quickly add in that it is short for Napoleon ;)

I believe the term 'nappies' (diapers) is currently used in Australia...
