| PIC of BITSY one year ago when I got her:) I've just started on making a photo album/scrap book for my babies and I ran across a picture I took of Bitsy the day after I got her. I dont remember the exact date but it was one year ago...last October. I bought her from an elderly lady who bred yorkies but the lady's health got really bad so she sold Bitsy to me and was selling lots of the yorkies she had kept for breeding and could no longer take care of. She had just gotten back from a long hospital stay. I believe all the dogs in her house (don't know how many cause she wouldn't let me go in) were left alone for several months and she had her daughter and son to pop in there and check on them and feed them. The lady told me that Bitsy was about three years old at that time. I remember going to look at her and having to wait until the next day to actually get her and I was so worried the lady would change her mind or something would go wrong. Bitsy looked pitiful and she had just finished nursing a litter of pups and as I was picking her up, someone was there buying the last puppy of bitsy's. Looking back, I wish I had had the money to buy the little pup. Bitsy was very scraggly looking, very ungroomed, long scraggly tail, which I had never seen on a yorkie, and she had some bald spots on her back which the lady said resulted from her nursing the puppies and her hair was VERY thin. My husband didn't know I was bringing home another dog so I was really nervous. I had mentioned that I was going to look at one but that was it. We had just gotten Bentley about seven months before so he was still a puppy. When I saw Bitsy, even through all the long hair that covered her unsure little eyes, in spite of the huge mats all over her body that were down to her skin, the bald spots, the smell (poor little thing stunk to high heaven) and her frail under nourished appearance, I KNEW I had to have her!!! It's one of those experiences where you just know this was meant for you We had an immediate bond Anyway, I brought her home and my husband is sitting at the kitchen table paying bills of all things, LOL, and I had her in my arms. My first thoughts were to take her straight upstairs to the bathroom and shut the door... before he had a good chance to look her over and smell her!!! So I mumbled a few words and did exactly that, LOL! It took me a long time to cut the mats off and she was so scared I cut off what I could because lots of them were down to her skin and I was afraid I was going to cut her but even then, she was so good and still for me. She is the best girl I gave her a good bath but she was in desparate need of a trip to the groomers. After I bathed her I introduced her to Bentley and his little tail went ninety miles an hour It was truely love at first sight for Bentley...he did not need to be swayed by any means!!! My husband tried not to pay too much attention to her the first night, but I could see it in his eyes...he was caving My fears were put to rest . Next day I took her to my groomer and she finished removing the mats that I could not get out and gave her the works. When I picked her up I thought (and still do) she was the prettiest little girl I had ever seen! I think she too knew that she had found a forever home that was going to be the best thing next to heaven. We have and still do spoil her to no end and wouldn't trade her for millions of dollars. I wish I had taken a picture of her the day I got her to compare to the day after so you could see. I knew she was a diamond in the rough! I LOVE all my dogs with all my heart but I have a special bond with Bitsy. Here she is, this is the picture I took after she went to the groomer, the day after I bought her home...one year ago, last October. I feel so emotional everytime I look at it. Look at her eyes and how she was looking at me....such a HUGE difference from the day before. I just love her SOOOO much!! I don't know her real birthday so I'm gonna make it today. Happy Birthday Bitsy!! My love for you grows each and every day!!! Thanks for listening and letting me share and be mushy for a little bit.

| My thoughts exactly, Megan. I usually skim long posts but that was an easy read. It touched my heart - I have such admiration for people who rescue animals. Happy Birthday Bitsy.
