| I had never heard of a Silkie before. I'll have to check them out. Someone earlier today (who supposedly has a lot of dog knowledge) asked my daughter, "What kind of dog is that?" When she answered, "He's a Yorkie," the lady responded, "Really? Well, he must be mixed with something else."
But whatever he is or isn't, he's the light of our lives. He's found his voice in the past few days and he's hilarious. If I'm sitting on my bed reading or playing on the computer, he'll come over to the side and give me a "Woof." I don't dare ignore him or he gets really ticked!! When I pick him up, he gives me loads of kisses and we have a little chat. If I need to get back to what I'm doing, I put him in his bed or beside me and give him a little belly rub and tell him, "Okay, Charlie, quiet time now. Be a good boy." And you know what? I swear he understands every word. He stays put. If he's beside me, he's very quiet and just cuddles until I get up.
He does get into a little mischief at times. I've read how determined Yorkies can be. He loves tearing up magazines. He seems to figure out how to get at one no matter where I put them. When I come home, there's shredded paper all over the living room. I give him a little scolding and he gives me "that look," and it's all over for me. I pick up the paper, pick him up and have a cuddle and just can't stay angry at him.
He's just SOOOOO loveable!!
(I'm wondering what I'm going to be like when I have grandchildren??? I'll probably be REALLY annoying then |
