I always think of a better comeback after the fact!!!! I can usually say something - but always after something way better!.....at least I don't just say 'WHATEVER' - now THAT'S lame!!!:D |
I"m so sorry you had to go thru that, it's just not fair for people to judge and don't understand the love we have for our animals. They are so apart of our family and there is nothing cuter, than a little yorkie in a spring dress. They are just jealous because they only care about what other people think and don't have the courage to do so. What kind of dog did they have? Although I've been wanting a little stroller for Minnie so that when we go out to eat she's not sitting on the ground and more at arms length so she can be comfortable but my husband isn't on board, yet...... I just got Minnie a skirt. I love it |

Thank you. If I were ever to try to put a dress on my Yorkie (which I wouldn't out of personal preference, it's a dog, I wouldn't exactly dress up my cats), my husband would divorce me. I don't judge anyone else who dresses their Yorkie in dresses.....but all of these comments on how other people are "just jealous". Come on now. Jealous that you put a dress on your dog??????? No, the majority of dog owners find it completely ridiculous that other people put dogs in dresses. Poppy has about 12 sweaters for when it is cold outside, and she wears the lighter ones in the inside when it is cold. I'm also all for that and for booties when it is snowing, out of necessity...and yes they are gosh darn adorable...but still a necessity. But trust me, no one is "jealous" your dog is in a dress. I don't even know if I should say that...if it makes you feel better saying that, alright....but I think the feeling of superiority all of you are allowing yourselves to feel is the same feeling of superiority you are bashing in those that insult you. That is the point I am trying to get across here and if I offend anyone, I am sorry. I am happy you all find a little piece of happiness in dressing up your dog. Live and let live. No one is jealous that your dog has a dress on. There are a million reasons to be jealous of a Yorkie and Yorkie owner, but definitely not this. This thread sinks as low as those who originally insulted that poor woman and her dog. I didn't want to offend but all the eye rolling, insulting and "jealousy... Rise above it. I feel you are all better than getting so defensive over something you all know is socially not generally accepted. Do what makes you happy and don't give a hoot what other people think, but don't sink to their level......especially with "jealousy" remarks. That couldn't be further from the truth. IF this thread wasn't meant to be as serious as it is coming across, I sincerely apologize, but it seems genuine and I didn't expect this type of thing. |
That's just terrible. I know I hate when peole ask me how much my dog costs. I got my minnie as a wedding gift and she was expensive and then i have to listen to people make comments saying, "you should have rescued a dog from the pound and how I'm the problem with designer puppies" I wasn't even thinking about getting a dog but when I saw my Minnie, I fell in love instantly and wanted that dog and not any other one. People just don't get that and they look at me like I'm crazy. That's another reason why i love this site so much because I feel like people understand me and I see how much everyone loves their little ones. I'm sure that lady was very jealous of your adorable little one and it's just terrible that you are out enjoying your day and people have to judge and make comments and think that their way of thinking is right. they just don't understand our love for this breed. And you didn't stoop to her level. Quote:

No one should have said anything to her. Point blank. Stooping to their level is going on and on about their "jealousy" of the dog being dressed in a dress. Anyone can have a dog, that's not really the point here. |
I think little dogs look adorable dressed up. I think dressing little dogs started when they got so cold due to the cool weather, and it evolved from there. Some people don't believe in dressing their dogs and that is fine but they don't need to be judgemental when some people do. I hate to see a small dog walking in the dead of winter shivering and I have even put a sweater on my golden retriever due to the cold. Dogs are so much more to some of us, we all have our opinions of what our dog means to us. I know of people in fla that have birthday partys and even weddings for their dogs. lol If that makes them happy, good for them. I personally think that some of our little dogs get treated better than some humans do in life. To me Pixie is a princess in her little dresses and she wears them proud and she loves to have people go gaga over her. If the dresses made her miserable she would not wear them. She actually gets all excited when I pull out an outfit. So...........I think jumdgemental comments about people that dress their dogs should be kept to themselves. |
Sincerly , I don't have time to waste on peoples that are rude so I don't listen to them . They can blah blah blah as much as they want . |
I got a little stroller when I was in Florida - and Mr. Darcy was too big - still have it - I guess they aren't that popular, because I put it in the local classifieds and it didn't sell!!!:D |

I absolutely agree completely with everything you said, and I skimmed through and noticed you posted before so I can only assume you assumed I was one of the "insulters" which isn't the case. I really hope no one thinks that! My point is no one should be making rude comments to anyone! I just feel that just as other people should learn to not be so misinformed about our beliefs and practices as dog owners and lovers, we should understand theirs, instead of making it so "us against them". What you said is exactly right. No one should judge anyone else for what they choose to do with their dogs....and we shouldn't judge them for what the general public non-dog lovers , or rather, non-Yorkie "dressing up lovers" think about what we do, just so long as no one is interfering in anyone else's business....and in most cases, I think we should just ignore it.......like I said, I've gotten my fair share of comments (mostly about my cats, actually) ...well maybe unless of course they are buying that 20grand dog bed in that thread. Hehe...well..... that's a little much.... And actually, in honor of this thread, just for my OWN personal amusement, and the fact that we weren't able to properly celebrate Poppy's 1year birthday May 6th (2 days ago) I think I might just buy her a "special occasion dress" and deal with getting made fun of by all my friends..... haha |
Best answer!! Me too -that's what I think! blah blah blah!!! |

I am just saying that to each is own and those who do should be able to go out and not have people say rude things and to those who don't that is their choice too. I know a few people that have little dogs and never dress them in anything even when its cold. I don't dress Daisy in dresses and she loves clothes but she weighs 20 lbs and it is hard to find dresses for her. I will buy her a t shirt once in a while and she does have a winter jacket. Now Daisy hates bows..........so she doesn't wear them. Pixie doesn't mind them bc they do keep her hair out of her eyes. I am not attacking anyone here.......I just believe that you should be able to march to the beat of your own drum without anyone being rude to you. I think it is important not to judge somone by their choices. |

 Okay................................ Teenagers that are "jealous" and want a Yorkie generally make AWWWW CUUUUTE comments about Yorkies. People that can't afford them generally do the same. Unless they have the maturity of an 8 year old.........I don't know where you're getting your facts or theories on this. "Naysayer that just don't have any "couth" "...that's not a word...sooooo I have no idea what you're talking about, but I assure you........the majority of the population thinks dogs in dresses looks stupid. 30-50 years ago were people dressing their dogs in dresses? No. Why? Because it was unheard of unless you were considered "crazy". I tried not to put it that bluntly...but that is point blank the facts. I tried to get my point across nicely but those in denial will stay in denial.....and since it's not hurting anyone, whatever! I have nothing against this, like I said....but those of you that are so defensive and want to "tell people off" need to realize that they ALREADY think you're nuts......and you are not changing any opinion. No one is jealous, I assure you and if they were, they would be OOOing and AAHing over your Yorkie. Good Lord. I tried to get this across very nicely. And yes, I shall be a crazy Yorkie Mommy who will buy a birthday dress for my Poppy so by all means lump me into this because like I said, I see nothing wrong with it. |
couth is a word  unless you know something Merriam Websters doesnt. |
