| Brand New Yorkie Owner Seeking Helpful Tips My kids and I just recently adopted an 8 month old Yorkie. Her name is Ruby (named after Rancid's "Ruby Soho"). I have never owned a small dog and have never really been around Yorkies so I need some advice. If you have any tips on anything from housetraining to overcoming small dog syndrome to behavior please let me know. Thank you all in advance! Audra |

| Hi Audra - Welcome to YT! There's really so much to learn it's kinda hard to tell you everything. If there's something specific we'd all love to help you out.

Are you not going to spay her? At 8 months she can be spayed if she is at a good weight.

| welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby!! My biggest suggestion would be an Ex-pen Kennel-Aire Exercise Pens - Exercise Pens - Crates & Kennels - PetSmart It was a the best thing I purchased. I pad trained Pixie but now she goes outside as well. If you live in a warm climate it is nice to have them go outside to do their business. I live in CT and when I got Pixie it was november so I had to pad train. If you have questions on that you can pm me and I will be happy to help!!

| You stated that you have never had a small dog and have really never been around yorkies PLEASE find a good mentor before you even consider breeding. Breeding yorkies is not an easy job and should be left to those who know what they are doing, you must be ready for all kinds of risks that can come up from the need for a c-section to possible death of your female.
