| quick question posted a question yesterday bout my yorkie sleepin alot. Thankfully he was due for his first check up today so we went to the vet. The poor boy has a fever of 103 so he was given antiobiotics. You would never guess he was sick because he eats alot, drinks plenty of water, and once he wakes up is way active and playful. Didnt really tell me whats causing this but i guess its a cold or something since his nose is runny and has eye discharge. Have a follow up next week for his vaccinations. Does this sound like a regular cold or is there something deeper goin on? Thanx for any advice or help |

| Sounds like you have done the right thing by going to the vet. I hope your baby is feeling better soon. |

| I would just watch him and if he's not getting better in a day or two, I'd go back to the vet...Good luck. Let us know how he does.

| just a good thing we had a check up today otherwise i never woulda known he had a fever. besides sleeping which i thought was normal for an 8week old, he had no problems. he's still a little piggy eating as much as he could so i never woulda thought he was sick. now i do what i know i shouldnt do and read things on the internet and i have so many bad thoughts running thru my mind. |

| That is really lucky that you had the check up. I dont think I would ever be able to recognize a fever on a dog either. And my furbabies are just like yours, they play hard and eat lots and then sleep alot.

| they're nose should be moist and cold, but shouldn't be runny and it's natural for a yorkies eyes to have a discharge. but it shouldn't be causeing a waterfall effect. tigger is four months old and his eyes still have a small discharge and his nose is always cold and wet. and the vet keeps saying what a healthy boy he is. if it doesn't clear up in a day or two take your baby back asap. good luck. |

| Isn't there usually a color change in a dog's gums also when they're not feeling well? Can't remember what I've heard about that. I know I've heard about the nose thing but that's just not always accurate for us. I don't know....
