I choose Widget cus he was such a little guy when I brought him home I thought it fit. Then when I got him a brother I wanted their names to go together so I named his brother Wyatt. Thus I have Widget and Wyatt and when I get exasperated I call them the wrong name but THEY seem to know who I am talking to! |
Jersey Boy was the perfect name for him cause we got him from a town in south Jersey and he is being raised in NJ so we thought perfect Jersey Boy. We are getting a little baby girl so I thought of sticking with the Jersey theme, we are going to call our new baby Brielle it is the name of a town in south Jersey.:) I love it Jersey Boy and Miss Brielle:love: |

My Toffee was because she was MacIntosh Toffee (candy) colored when she was little.....not too original! Mr. Darcy came by his name because when I brought him home I was trying to think of who I considered to be the epitomy of the 'perfect man'!!! Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice came to mind - I have the DVD and have that movie on when I am doing my housework- to help me get through THAT chore!! Then when I wanted a little girl to keep him company - I naturally chose Lizzie (Miss Elizabeth Bennet!). So that's that!!;) |

We have 3 dogs our oldest is Sophie a 15year old golden lab and we chose her name because we wanted something sweet and soft like her. She was a year old when we got her she was a rescue dog and had endured some awful abuse and her name then was Sandy and it just didn't suit her, so along with her new pampered life we gave her a new name and she has always suited it staying very soft and sweet as shes aged:D Our next dog was a black lab puppy which we chose Jasmine for and again because it was nice and girly initialy we thought ebony because she was jet black in colour but eventually we all agreed Jasmine but as a pup i used to coo at her and call her mums little booboo and now if you shout booboo she comes running hehe:D but she answers to Jasmine as well. Jasmine would probably suit a more butch name as she is anything but a girly girl she is 4.7stone of butch dog and very much a daddy's girl Finally we got our little Lily and we chose her name again because we wanted something girly and because we felt it went well with jasmine and sophie and so far she is suiting her name well. Our next pooch which won't be for a long time as Sophie is needing lots of love just now being so old and frail is going to be one my husband has wanted for forever a french bulldog which he is calling Frank because he thinks thats fairly french sounding  of course i may just get my own way and get another Yorkie instead of a French bulldog:thumbup: yvonne xxx |
My 6 mos old is Farrah. While waiting for her litter to "come of age" I searched online for English baby names. We love the TV show "Dexter" and would have named a male that. But we were chosen by a female. So as I researched the names I came across Farrah and it made me think of the way the Yorkies hair parts naturally down the middle and the way it sort of feathers as she/he walks. I laughed as I thought of the 1970's Farrah Fawcett hair. So that kind of sealed it for me. My new furbutt is a 4 yr old that will be joining our pack in June and her name is Vanessa. I'm so happy with that name because it is English also. |

Lol, that is the same thing that happened to me with my Sophie. She was so tiny and dainty when I first saw her (7.5weeks) and I wanted a feminine, pretty name for her. I had all sorts of plans for her, she was going to love bows in her hair, dresses, always be cleaned and everything would be pink. Well, she is now 10 months old and I think she wishes she was a boy. Anytime we put a bow in her hair she rips it out and shreds it, any dress I have bought for her she finds and hides around the apartment, rolls around in the dirt at the first chance she gets, when we groom her she messes her hair up so it has a 'bed head appearance', and even though dogs apparently can't see colour she hates the colour pink. She has peed or pooped on any of the pink dresses or shirts I have and runs away from anything that is pink ... her favourite thing to wear is her black shirt witha glow in the dark priate skull on it. She is no longer dainty at all...right now she is beating up her stuffed kitty and chewing on its' head and earlier she was gnawing on the coffee table (I am about to make a post about that as well). But I love her in all her tomboy glory. My other pets are Sammie, Grumpy and Libby. Sammie was rescued at 3 weeks - she was found in a box with her brother taped up in a garbage pile, someone took the male but no one wanted her because she looked sicker than her brother, so I took her in and bottle raised her (most amazing experience ever) and she was a tiny, dirty kitten that was full of worms and fleas but she was so loving and happy and she reminded me of my mom's friend's cat that was put down just before I found her (he had kidney failure at 3 years old) and I loved that cat and we always babysat him and he was such a loving cat...so I named my cat Sammie after Doug's Sammy. She is now 3 years old and as healthy as ever =) Grumpy is our 4 year old rehome cat. I had always wanted a long haired white cat and there was an ad of someone getting rid of theirs because "they didn't have time". Her name was Lucy when we got her, but she smelled like smoke and litter box contents so we bathed her the night we got her and we started calling her Grumpy, and it stuck...so she is no longer Lucy and is officially Grumpy. Libby is our new addition. She is 9 weeks old and a half manx kitten. It took us two weeks to name her (she has coccidia and had fleas...so she has been locked in the bathroom on medication since we got her =(). I was watching TV one night and someone named an aminal Liberty and I thought it was cute, but too long of a name for her...so she became Libby and it fits her perfectly. |
Sophie Kate came with her name, well the Sophie part and I added the Kate after my friends sister in law. The first night I had Sophie Kate they came over for a glass of wine and Sophie Kate firmly placed herself on Katie's lap and so we added Kate to her name. Its a good thing we did, ever go to a dog park and call a dog named "Sophie"? At least ten dogs and five 4 year old girls will come running. Actually she gets called Soph or Beans more than anything else. |
1 Attachment(s) My husband and I came up with a list of 15 names and then let our 7 year old daughter bring the list down to her favourite 3. My husband and I then made the final decision. Lacy was both of our favourites on that list, it was between Maggie, Lacy and Annie. Andrea, momma to Lacy ;) |
My favorite song when I was a little girl was the song "Popsicle" by New Kids on the Block. My husband and I went to see them in concert when they had their reunion tour and it was an amazing experience only a few rows from the stage, where they even sang the song "Popsicle". So I named my Yorkie when I got her the following July: Poppy :p (full name is Popsicle of course, but we go by Poppy) |
Umm let's see I have so many reasons lol. Teddy looked like a Teddy bear when he came-he was fluffy and black so we named him Teddy. Then there was London-which I picked her name out before she even came home. I always loved that name. Sophia-I named her that because I always idolized Sophia Loren and thought she was so beautiful like my Sophie. Then there's Maggie and Livie..I just like those names-no real other reasons. I like very pretty feminine names:) |
