i hope cobys not turning all silver.. i dont like silver color yorkies colors
it make them look old.. i was hoping he stayed blue tan, or turn blond
i notice hes got a mix of siliver all in his face now, and some on his legs
mix with light brown, his face is the same.. the silivers coming in
with the blue on his back which is fine, i just hope hes not going to be silver. :eek:

It's hard to say what color a yorkie will be until it reaches about 2 years old. Sophie has had some silver in her coloring but it's been slowing turning to a light tan. I think they're all very cute regardless of their coloring :D

I happen to LOVE "silver and gold" yorkies.....but really they are ALL ADORABLE:) just remember it is whats on the inside that counts;)

I think they are all beautiful. I have no clue what color Rhett will finally be, but it doesn't matter. It was his personality I feel in love with.

Hair does not make the pet!!:) Love the personality regardless of the color:)

I doubt he will be all silver because he still has a lot of dark throughout his back and body (looking at his pictures) Coby is a cutie and even if he got more silver he would still be adorable!

What are you going to do if he does turn silver???

I know what you mean. I love the darker colored yorkies and I knew I wanted one that would stay dark. Nothing wrong with the lighter ones, they're oh so cute too! Like Uni and Thor, I love their little faces! :p Kaji will be two Aug 1st and he looks like he's barely breaking the color on his head! His back is black, his legs are tan/gold but his head is salt and pepper. :rolleyes: He's is v-e-r-y----s-l-o-w-l-y turning into a rich gold/tan. Maybe by the time he's 3 he'll finally be done with his transformation? Ah! Who knows.

My Lola is that Platinum/silvery blonde color and blue saddle. My Zach is gold and blue. I think they are both so adorable!!! Who cares what color they are? They are you baby regardless!!

If you wanna guarantee a color get an adult ;)

My boy can be what every colour he wants, I don't care if he turned purple (as long as he's not sick) I'd love him whatever, I'm sure if your baby did turn silver you'd still be in love- wouldn't you??????????????????????

Wow Star, it is amazing how you never have anything nice to say about Coby. You should have taken me up on my offer and I'd have found him a home that would love him with his silver hair or not!

And by the way - my dog Barney is a silver yorkie and he is one of the most gorgeous yorkies I've ever seen. He has received many complements on his coat as well.

It's sad that you so view Coby in the way that you do, and even sadder that you are getting another one. I hope no one decides they don't like you when you turn silver, it's going to happen, you know!

True, if you really love him, you wouldn't care what he ended up looking like. You should have seen Uni in her "teen" years. OMG you guys, she was so... awkward. But I still loved her, I still took lots and lots of pics of her. Now that she's fully grown, I love how she has supermodel reindeer legs, huge ears that look like ponytails, half her blue is lighter than the other half, I could go on. But I love her bc she is MINE.

btw, when her color started breaking, it started out as silver, and eventually turned gold. It takes at least 2-3 yrs until you can see their adult coloring.

Phhhtt! Uni have awkward teenage years? I don't believe it. A supermodel like her always looks good! I love her cute ears, long elegant legs, and her beautiful hair!

I have a silver and he is beautiful. His face is gold and his back is like a dark silver, very pretty. I don't think silver makes a dog look old at all.

Wow, I agree, that's pretty sad. Most Yorkie owners are so head over heals in love with their pup by this stage that they wouldn't even care if he turns into a frog..... they just adore them.

By the way, Tiki is lighter than I expected, has one ear up and one down, has a little medical prob, bites her toenails, etc., and I wouldn't change a thing about her. She is perfect in my eyes!

I don't think it should matter what color they turn. I never really give it much thought with Bailey, whatever color he ends up I will love and cherish him the same.

I have one from each end of the light to dark spectrum....and I love every stinking hair on both of them. :D:p:D Coby is gorgeous, BTW...but I've never seen an ugly yorkie...I love them all....light, dark, big or small.:D

To each his own, I guess. But, I would find it impossible not to love my kids regardless of their coloring.

It's funny, the first yorkie I saw was totally silver. I fell in love with him and wanted a yorkie just like him. I kept seeing yorkie puppy pictures and they were all these little black and tan dogs. I didn't understand :confused: Where were all the little silver yorkies, like the one I first saw? LOL

It wasn't until after researching, I learned that yorkies are born black/tan and change color as they grow. And, that a totally silver yorkie wasn't what reputable breeders would ever breed for as it isn't within the standard. But, even knowing that, I still loved the look of that little silver yorkie!

When we first brought Moto home my husband asked lots of questions about what he was gonna look like when he got older and so on and so forth, like will his ears actually stand up will his hair grow long will it be all one color like some or like others. I didn't have all the answers. So this is what I told him.

Yorkies are like a seed. You plant it, you nurture it and care for it, talk to it, feed and water it. Place it in sunlight. Depending on how much love and attention you give it, in return, gives you as much love and attention back.

While I've seen photos (usually of mixed breed yorkies)that both myself and my husband thought looked odd simply because of mixed breeding and didn't meet breed standards. We have seen a vast array of coat types and colors. We personally like the odd duck look. Where something is always out of place or noticeable. Every parent knows there babies short comings. Human or puppy. But hair color is not a short coming.

While were on the wagon of I wish. I wish my little guy was an odd ball and quickly got potty training down. Doesn't make me love him less, but has earned him the name "s**thead" by my husband. Of course my name for him is "wigglebutt" because I try and dress him and do his hair and he never seams to stand still.

I always recommend supporting breeders who breed to standard, and only those who improve the breed. Most breeders just breed for money, and don't evaluate breeding dogs. Personally though, I don't see any point of pet owners of evaluating their dogs. There are only a couple of categories, cutie pie, and super cutie pie.

There's nothing wrong with having preferences, but your statement that "i dont like silver color yorkies colors it make them look old", is really hard for me to swallow. I agree with the others, you have written so many derogatory things about Coby, you say that you "love" him, but wanted to find a new home for him, when the landlord was going to charge a pet fee. You have complained about his size from the beginning, and I don't think you look at him like a loving pet owner should look at their dog. I know breeders have to carefully evaluate every aspect of the breeding dogs, but just because a dog isn't the perfect example of a yorkie, it doesn't mean you should like him any less. I know you recently got another dog, and I hope you will learn to love it no matter what it looks like. Now I know that you are going to reply that you love your dog, but did you think of what your statement might mean to all those pet owners whose dogs are light blue or silver, which by the way, is within standard?

I encourage people to EVALUATE their breeders, and just love their pet dogs!

It seems to me that he is like the red headed stepchild and you are just not happy with him. Just a few weeks ago you were ready to sell him because you apartment wouldn't allow pets any longer. Within a week of that your "friend" was looking for a new Yorkie puppy and now you have added a new puppy. If you are that unhappy with Cody I would suggest that you give someone else a chance to love him for whatever color or size he is turning out to be. As you can see there are plenty of other members that would love to have him no matter what you see as his "faults".

When you posted previously you wanted to sell him for $500. Claiming to not have money blah, blah, blah but you then turned around and bought a new puppy. I really think it is time that you give this little guy a chance for a loving home that will accept him for whatever he turns out to be. :(
