It seems to me that he is like the red headed stepchild and you are just not happy with him. Just a few weeks ago you were ready to sell him because you apartment wouldn't allow pets any longer. Within a week of that your "friend" was looking for a new Yorkie puppy and now you have added a new puppy. If you are that unhappy with Cody I would suggest that you give someone else a chance to love him for whatever color or size he is turning out to be. As you can see there are plenty of other members that would love to have him no matter what you see as his "faults".

When you posted previously you wanted to sell him for $500. Claiming to not have money blah, blah, blah but you then turned around and bought a new puppy. I really think it is time that you give this little guy a chance for a loving home that will accept him for whatever he turns out to be. :(

And, remember, part of the reason Star wanted to get rid of Coby a few weeks ago was because she said she could not afford the $55 per month pet fee to keep him. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3072365-post52.html

My Roxie is more silver than anything and I really could care less what color she was. She could probably be pink (maybe)..lol..and I would still love her to pieces. I love that fiesty terrier personality in that itty bitty body...lol...Who cares if he turns all silver, will you love him any less? I doubt that.

I was thinking the same thing as I also offered to take him because I felt sorry. My babies could be pink with purple polkadots...no one will ever be able to get them out of my arms. They are my babies and I say they love you unconditionally and all they ask is the same in return. I agree with the other poster...If you wanted a specific color then you should have gotten an adult so you could be sure you got what you wanted. That baby is just the most adorable little thing. What's the difference????

I wanted all my children to have blue eyes!!! darn it

Wow, and if they WERE pink with purple polkadots.... everybody would want them! They'd be so adorably "girly".

Unconditional love for our fur kids should just come naturally!

jmdt 05-05-2010 01:37 PM

I agree. Now I want a pink one !! :D

Wow Star, it is amazing how you never have anything nice to say about Coby. You should have taken me up on my offer and I'd have found him a home that would love him with his silver hair or not!

And by the way - my dog Barney is a silver yorkie and he is one of the most gorgeous yorkies I've ever seen. He has received many complements on his coat as well.

It's sad that you so view Coby in the way that you do, and even sadder that you are getting another one. I hope no one decides they don't like you when you turn silver, it's going to happen, you know!

I agree - it never crossed my mind on what color Mr. Darcy would be - I know Yorkies come in various colors - I just love him so much I don't really care on his color - it's looking into his eyes when I cuddle him that is what makes MY day - not his coat color. Lizzie is black on her back - she also has tan and some white (her dad was a Biewer) - I saw him and her mom, and I never thought about what color she will be - Why is appearance so terrible important to you - in my opinion you can't possibly love Coby for him - Poor Coby.........:( You should think twice before you get another Yorkie - who knows - it may turn out polka dot........

Reese1 05-05-2010 02:53 PM

Wow.
I have one who is silver & one that is still black and there is no difference in how I love them or think about them. (I have a Yorkie Poo who is light as well.)
I've never thought about them in terms of their coloring. Doesn't make a hill of beans of difference to me!

It saddens that someone would complain about their baby so much!! My Claire has short, rough fur and she is almost 11 lbs!! She may not ever look like most yorkies!! Granted I got her from a BYB so that's most likely why she is so different, but I love her!! I love her no matter what!! I do condition her coat and try to make it shinier, but I still love her!!

If I were a breeder, I'd try to find people like you to love my babies. Really good breeders are very fussy about where their offspring go. Breeders who are producing excellent examples of the breed want their clients to show unconditional love to their babies.

MyBabyFynnlie 08-06-2010 09:17 AM

You should be ashamed of yourself. There are so many babies out there that need loving and care and you're worried about Coby's fur colouring. So what if he turns a little silver? He'll still be lovely and perfect! You should be glad you have a Yorkie. There are so many people out there who would love him unconditionally but haven't had the opportunity to be loved by a Yorkie yet.

Stop complaining about him and do what's right, love him like a momma should or give him to someone who can do just that.

What is even better about my breeder, regardless of experience or the dogs bred, is that she wanted to see our home and meet us before she considered allowing us to buy Claire!!
She is a local groomer and loved that we could stop by to see her!!!
SO regardless of the "quality" of my dog, the breeder cared!!! I love my silly little dog, regardless of her "quality"!!
Who cares if she isn't AKC or anything else!! Those are beautiful dogs, but we get a LOT more play time because Claire's fur is so short!
We can go go the beach and swim and play ALL day!! I just bath her and comb a little and we are back to playing!!
Reading this has made me love my baby even more!!

Rhetts_mama 08-06-2010 09:23 AM

I had a little scare with Scarlett. I was looking at her the other day and it looked like she was developing bald patches on her head. I didn't see them any where else, but all the causes of hair loss were going through my mind...

Turns out, when I finally got a hold of her and could really look, that she's got some silver coming in on her head.

LOL- My baby has grey roots just like her mommy :)

I love it that she took such an interest in where her baby went, and wants to stay in her life. You and Claire sound like you have a fun life together!

JenaLiat 08-06-2010 09:31 AM

It really made me feel great about getting a puppy from her!! I was able to see the house before, and meet the parents and all of the puppies!!
We do have a spoiled life haha too bad I start teaching again on the 17th!! :( I will miss my baby girl!!

Exactly!!! Before I got Rio I used to worry about whether I would have a silky yorkie or a cotton coat. Well I have one of each and I couldn't love them more!! They could be bald and they would always be my precious angels. Rio has silky hair and she's very blonde and getting silver, and she's gorgeous in my eyes. Bullet is a cotton coat and is my handsome baby boy. It truly is what's inside their sweet little hearts that count!!!

First off I'm glad Coby is some where where SOMEONE wanted him for HIM! And honestly as happy as I am for him I am sicken by you. You got Coby first and then a second dog? You got rid of Coby because 2 was TOO MUCH? What the heck?? That's like me getting rid of LOLA my dog because I got Zach and it was "too much". It's so easy to pick and choose which one to keep and let go, he was there first. I think you should give your sister your other dog too, you don't deserve any!! Just my opinion

xoxJuliexox 08-06-2010 07:18 PM

glad to see he has a new home, but i wouldn't care what color he turned as long as he was healthy, i hate how people say, they look ugly grey, i don't think so at all! Part of the reasons i love Yorkies is because all of are unique and beautiful in there own ways!

mommyofsophie 08-06-2010 07:49 PM

dyeing Yorkie's coat

I loved Sophie's puppy colors, but I also love the silver that she has now because she's my baby. :-) My brother and I have auburn hair... I'm glad our mother wasn't wishing we were blonde! ;-)

But seriously, take a look at...

I found this video on YouTube when I was looking for grooming tips. Watch starting at 2:26 in the video. I cannot even believe that some people dye their Yorkies' fur. I worry about the possible health risks of the dye, especially if people use it longterm.
