I wanted to update you all again, I just spoke to Mary Ellen and Mimi will be coming home tomorrow. GREAT NEWS!!! Of course she will be laid up for awhile and Mary Ellen knows this but she is thrilled. Also the owner of the Dalmatian found her tonight by describing her to neighbors. Mary Ellen said he came over, was so upset and paid her cash for all the Vets bills and apologized repeatedly. Also he has bought the dog a muzzle and has it enrolled in some training classes. The Dalmatian is a rescue and unfortunately they just didn't know the dog as well as they thought. I give the Dalmatian owner credit for doing the right thing for Mimi and for his dog. I should note also that the Dalmatian owner did comeback this morning to look for Mary Ellen and help her but by the time he had his dog securely at home Mary Ellen had grabbed her dogs and ran home. Again thank you for the prayers and I will keep you all updated. I will post a picture of Mimi and Baxter tomorrow so you all can see what your thoughts are prayers are to. |
That's great news, thank you for the update xo The Dalmation's owner sounds like a decent man. |
You got it sending prayers your way!! |
Just now seen this, glad for the good news:animal-pa |
I'm so glad Mimi is able to go home tomorrow. She will do better at home. I would like to know as time passes if Mimi & Baxter have any lasting trauma or fear. It was the responsible thing for the dalmation owner to pay for her vet bills and apologize all over the place, but I would imagine he was fearing a law suit. Was the owner walking the dalmation on his leash when he broke away or was he tied out? Just curious...:) |
man...how horrible! A difficult reminder that everyone needs to maintain control of their animals!!! I'm not saying there should be a federal leash law, some dogs are controlled without them...(not mine, 100% of the time, so they get leashes) |
I'm sorry this happend glad there both home and doing better. That was nice(and the right thing) for the owner to do. |
So glad that the babies are doing better...Will continue to keep Mimi in prayer...So decent of the man to pay the vet bills...That he "rescued" the dalmation, speaks volumes... |
that is great that Mimi is doing well enough to come home. Glad that things are worked out between owners. |
Thanks for the updates. Sounds as if things turned out as well as could be expected. I agree with you, the owner of the Dalmacian did the right thing. Its the rescue home that is really to blame, if they let this dog be addopted and did not test it to see this kind of terrible aggression. A similar thing happended to a neighbor of mine with a dachsund. It was attached by a German Sheppard that grabbed the little dog right out of her owner's arms. One of our neighbors has a pair of these big German SHeppards, and has attached fence "extenders" to the fence around their property, I assume they were able to jump over the existing fence. Every time we walk by, these dogs go crazy and that sets off little Gatsby. It is frightening, even though I always carry my guys past this particular house.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
oh, and the other day i neglected to mention it, but it was a very stand up thing to do for the dalmation owner to pay for the vet bills. Not many people would do that these days. |
wow i am so sorry. prayers for the family. this is seriously one of my worst fears. |
Sending prayers for a speedy recovery for Baxter and Mimi. |
All- I saw Mary Ellen last night and Mimi continues to improve, her wounds healing but she is still really sore. Again she thanks you all for the thoughts and prayers and so do I. Cheryl |
