Your concern appears to be safety - perhaps you could use baby gates to cordon off certain areas of the house so she still has the "perception" of freedom

This works for Remy at my parents house - he does not mind being "kept out" of places... but he hates, hates, hates being confined to a place

Same with Jackson.... HATES confinement lol. When we visit at my dads house, he has free reign of the whole downstairs. The upstairs is blocked off from the dogs mainly because they have 2 cats that stay up there, so it just is less work. And he doesn't mind that.

Jackson's issue is if he can physically SEE me, but can't get to me... he just can't stand it.

Yup, he's got the whole house. He never does anything but sleeps tho!

It wasn't really something I ever trained him to do... he just never bothered w/ anything when no one was home. Of course, it was/is a different story when we ARE home!

I leave my two locked in my bedroom... this way I only have one room to scan to ensure there is nothing dangerous around. I have a platform bed, so it is very low to the ground so jumping isnt an issue... there is also a chair in the room that they can get on, plus their crate is in their and at least one bed of theirs down at all times... they also have their toy box, water, and wee wee pads available to them in there.

The room is pretty big giving them plenty of room to run, they have everything they need, and I know the cat wont be tormented,

Mine have always gotten out of ex pens in no time... if you are going to try that route, get a lid!

ok, i think i've decided i'm going to try a regular crate and train her to that. as a result, i think i might also have to do some barking training too

but that's ok b/c i'm getting my baby!!!

2 weeks!!

everyone for the advice ... it's interesting to see how everyone's dogs have such different personalities....
