One thought...I read here some time ago that if your pet gets off leash for some reason the best way to get them to come back to you is not to go after them but to make it a game of chasing you instead. i've used this a couple times when Tuffy has gone out the door with MILs Jack Russell; just turned around, called out "look" & started skipping the other way...he gave chase & I snatched him up!

I haven't heard of this but it did work on me before when Bella was younger. She kind of took off around the block and I tried chasing her down but she kept running away from me then eventually my husband came around the corner and I told her to "get daddy" and she ran straight to him. I use that alot now when we go out to potty and she's taking forever sniffing around even after she has gone..I just tell her "let's go get daddy" and she'll get excited and starts running to the house. She obviously loves daddy more.

What awesome people and neighbors you both were to give chase until both of these babies were caught and returned to their owners! There are still wonderful people out there. I hope if I ever need help like that for my kids or my furbaby there will be a good Samaritan out there for them.

Great work! I have donre this Many time.... Not just with Yorkies.. just 2 weeks ago my daughter founf a beagle. we looked and look for the owner and when we found her . My daughter was so Please she could hep out the sweet guy.. I know I am raising a Real animal lover in her :P

I have 2 huge animal lovers in my boys - especially my oldest who just had a baby -

he's been the BEST dad with his weiner boys and been through alot with surgeries etc - (back issues with this kind of breed) lost one to Cushings but I was so proud of him because he did all he could to treat him.....he still misses his baby Mikey and me too - he was an awesome little guy

he was broken into a few years ago - the lowlifes left his door open and his boys were found wandering around near a busy street and thank God the neighbors knew his guys and took them in till he got home from work -

My youngest was constantly videoing my 2 while I was at work to show me how depressed they get lol -

if only all neighbors could be as genuine and sincere as you!!! My DH and i would probably do the same knowing how much yorkies mean to people and us and to every yorkie lover out there! Sigh ++ yes we need much more people like you and everyone else in this forum who's so wonderful and kind!! <3

that was a very honerable thing to do but i hope for the sake of this dog the owner is more careful you would not let your small child wander off and nor should you allow your yorkie ,I always know where all my fur kids are at all times so she is very lucky to have a person like you do this for her so much awful stuff could have happenned ......glad the outcome was great ......good job

Last night she was on the opposite side of the neighborhood and that was probably why she couldn't find her house.

The older lady who owned the yorkie had just gotten out of bed and didn't even realized her yorkie was missing. She said she was wondering why her dog wasn't in her bed and was about to look for her when we came knocking. It was so nice seeing how excited the yorkie was to see her owner again. I can't imagine how I would feel if my Bella went missing and I was thinking, what if someone else found her yorkie and didn't return her

But, I know every yorkie owner would spend an hour or two in the middle of the night chasing down someone's lost yorkie. I'm so proud of myself

Every Yorkie owner appreciates someone who rescues their babies.
I onced parked my car on the highway and got out to catch a lost yorkie, thankfully the people I held up in the traffic were all very nice about it. They could run over my car, but I couldn't stand to see the Yorkie get hurt.
I left the Yorkie at a near by kennel with a friend of mine and she found the owner within a couple of hours.
