| Boxers and Yorkies? Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has a boxer. We are still looking for our bigger dog and have switched from Goldens to Boxers LOL. We are thinking of a male because my two yorkie females are dominant. I really want to know if they will get if Boxers can get along well with Yorkies. Thanks

| I grew up with Boxers, and they are among one of my favorite of dog breeds. We lived on a farm and never had any problems with them with any of our other animals so I would think they would be ok with Yorkies. My fear, however, is that they play very very hard and somtimes don't know or understand the power behind their rompiness (they get their name from their "boxer" like action they do with their front legs) and a smaller dog like a Yorkie could get hurt.

| I love Boxers! I know YT member chattiesmom has one and I'm sure she can tell you more about the Yorkie/Boxer mix. As much as I love Boxers, they have their names for a reason. They like to "box" and jump on their hind legs and box you, LOL. It's adorable really. They use their paws and hands a LOT to communicate and are VERY energetic... the ones I've been around anyways. I dogsit for two of them and see them often. They're not aware of their size and they are big babies. They both will take up the whole couch and NOT move... haha. You could be pushing, shoving, hitting them and they could care less, they won't budge haha. They always have to be close to me and right next to me, their paws on me at all times haha. This particular Boxer I dogsit for is very dog aggressive though and will honestly kill another dog besides the one he lives with (although I was there for a pretty bad fight between them once!) They are somewhat known for dog aggression from my understanding but it of course always depends on each different dog and how you raise them. They got this dog in particular from a good breeder and he was okay with other dogs until he turned a 1 year old and they don't know what happened! But overall I really love Boxers. I see quite a bit of them at the dog park getting along with other dogs fine. They're very strong but super attached to their humans and loving. They're just GOOFY and playful! I really love Golden's though I grew up with one and will own another one day! The left is Buddy, a Boxer mix, and the other is Guiness, purebred Boxer.

| I love Boxers, the perpetual puppy. The only thing you would have to monitor is the playing between the two breeds, for obvious reasons; The Boxer being larger and the yorkies thinking they are.

| Great dogs. But the one time Ellie was around one, one of the first things it did was put its paw on her head. lol. Some also love to jump up on you. This dog was trained too... So I think unless you get a more laid back Boxer, it is possible that a ton of training will be needed, and then still they really shouldn't be allowed to play together. Just too strong... I will have one some day.

| I have a male boxer and they just get along fine. It's funny to see them play because she is 4.5lbs and he is like 25lbs. so we het a kick out of that . He is very protective and its just his little sister and loves her to death. We have had him since he was a baby he is 4 months now my girl is 11 months.

| Our neighbors have a Boxer puppy that is around 4 months old. I was absolutely terrified the first time Bri walked over to him. However, he is so good with her and very gentle. They run around our yards and play and play! Bri loves when I tell her she can go play with him! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | My son that still lives with us has a boxer, Cash. He is a hoot, the most playful, energetic, goofy dog, I've ever known. But, I don't let him play with the small dogs here, he is just too big and clumsy with those big strong legs and feet.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | They are awesome dogs, but as multiple people have stated, they are large and very energetic. They could easily hurt your yorkies by accident. They also need lots and lots of exercise to keep their natural exuberance in check. Short little walks won't cut it.

| We have a Boxer named Boo who will be turning 14 on May 5th. She is a Grand Ole Gal - and has been the best dog who has ever blessed our family. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my yorkies, but Boo has been something special to everyone in our family. She is the most patient, gentle and loving dog we have ever had. She was already full grown when the first Yorkie came into our home. Here are some pics of our precious Boo. |
