I that right after his surgery Hot Rod ate but like a day or 2 after, he stopped eating. We wound up stopping the pain meds and he nibbled but really didn't eat a whole lot like he did the first 2 meals.

I wonder if the pain medicine is it. She ate good yesterday morning and went potty fine. Then had pain meds in the afternoon and didn't hardly touch dinner. She ate the chicken & rice this morning and we gave pain meds after. So I guess we will see how dinner goes!

Those collars are such a great invention, at one time in their lives, they are almost are certain to need one, and with these, you don't have to worry about how uncomfortable they are. So cute too!

I couldn't agree more! It's one of those things that when I saw it on here, I thought why hasn't someone thought of this before now!

You are so welcome. There is that cutie pie! Camden has such a sweet little face! she looks great for having had surgery though. Poor little one. Give her a great big gentle hug!

our surgeon told us that with the meds Hot Rod had going on during surgery and what I'd given him, he should have been okay from the residual for a short while. I would imagine that after a while of being on them, it would sort of upset there little tummies. Good luck and hopefully it is as simple as that.

Thanks for the kind words. I was just so determined that poor little Hot Rod was not going to wear one of those awful plastic things like my poor kitten did. I am just so glad that I can at least offer something to make such a terrible time a little bit easier.

Thanks, I'm hoping it's as simple as that too! We will calling back the vet in the morning if not!

I am so happy to hear that Camden is home and doing well. Such a rough time for her and for you as well. She does look comfortable in the collar so that has to ease your mind. My prayers for a speedy recovery and with Camden and you.

We have poop!
Finally this morning she went and oh boy did she go!!

The new concern though is she squatted on the pad like she was peeing, but nothing came out!
I know she peed on the pad yesterday morning for sure, but after that we have been walking her in the yard and she squatted every time, but now I honestly don't know if she actually went. She's so short and it's hard to tell in the grass!
So today before we walk in the yard, we will be checking on the pad first!
She is eating all the chicken and rice we made her and mixed in a touch of green beans and wet food.
I think the next two weeks until her staples comes out are going to drag and I'm sure I will have an ulcer by then!

Camden is out of surgery. Starting with her teeth, I guess they were awful despite our best efforts. I think the lack of care she had the first couple of years of her life prior to us getting her didn't help! He said a couple teeth are a little loose, but may tighten or she could end up losing.

The hernia was small, but deep and it had some fatty tumors around it. She's not fat at all.
She has 7 internal staples and the incision is between 2-3" long.
Needless to say she will be sore and it will take some time to get back to her normal self. They are keeping her all day to monitor her and she will of course be on pain meds.
I feel so bad for her, but I'm thankful she came through surgery ok! I'm hoping recovery isn't too long for her.
I really appreciate all the kind words and prayers!

awwwww - I hope each day gets better and better !! Surgery is scary in itself but seeing them in pain is no fun either - sending hugs !!
