| Newbie seeking info about diseases... Hi Everyone! I just figured I would introduce myself first. I have a 2 year old male Yorkie named Charlie who is an absolute sweetheart . I recently found out some terrible news. It turns out he has a "grade 2" Collapsed Trachea that is 50% collapsed as of now as well as Laryngeal Paralysis. Also his valve is failing. Just found out the risk of surviving surgery is 50%/50%. I have to make the biggest decision of my life and am so scared. I am absolutely devastated and have been doing research online ever since I found out 4 days ago. I am so happy that I came across this website. I am going to post a message about this in the "Sick & Injured" folder and will get into more detail about it. I just wanted to say, "hello"! |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Hi EdgyVeggie. Welcome to YT. I don't envy your position, but you sure seem to be doing what's best for Charlie, and that's looking for information. Unfortunately, I have no expertise in this area. Hopefully, some other YT members will be able to give you some advise. Usually, they do. In the meantime, you might post your question on another forum where I've had luck getting advise. Here it is. http://www.webpagetutor.com/mightymite/

I'm glad you found this forum and hopefully can get some help, and if nothing else, moral support! I hope and pray Charlie has his problems solved and will be a healthy puppy! Hugs to you and Maddie sends puppy kisses to Charlie! |

| Thanks! Thank you all so much for your replies. It feels good to know that you are all wishing and thinking good thoughts about my Charlie boy! I am so happy I found this forum. Hopefully I will find some answers here. Even if I don't, like Connie said, at least I will find some moral support. Reading all of your replies to my post has put a smile on my face ...that hasn't happened since I first found out this horrible news. YorkieShadow--I actually came across that site during all the research I did and it helped me understand it in layman's terms. Thank you for the time you spent looking for it. Oh, and Minnie & Mickey...how cute are those names!!! I loved looking at all of your pictures. When I get a chance I will put Charlie's picture up on my profile. Thank you guys! |

| Hi and welcome to YT. Charlie sounds like a doll and he is lucky to have you!! Please research the threads here because I remember one about a vet who was designing an experimental device for collapsed trachea whch was supposed to markedly imporve the success rate. I am sorry I cannot remember the circumstances of the thread but i think he was at a veterinary school somewhere. |
