| Scary Experience On Sunday, Diji and I went to watch my boyfriend play paintball. We arrived in separate cars as I came late. When we left, Paul (my boyfriend) drove in front of me. I was stopped at a robot and checked my phone. Then out of nowhere, this man comes up to my car and yells at me through the slit of window that was open (about 5cm). He said in Afrikaans, “Give me your phone you (insert profane words) or I’ll hurt you. At this stage, his hands were in my car gesturing to give him my phone. Then Paul shouted from his car that he must moved and immediately the man took his hands away and pretended to be begging for money!!! I was in such shock. I was so lucky that my window hadn’t been more open or that the man was unarmed. All this time, Diji was sleeping in his little car basket next to me. This happened in Pretoria in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. Petty crime happens all over the world, I suppose but it doesn’t make it acceptable. With 53 days to go for the world cup I certainly hope that security and policing around our capital cities gets more jacked up. It will give tourists such a bad impression of SA. This country has so much to offer but this is often over shadowed by the alarming crime statistics. Are any YorkieTalkers coming through to watch any games? |

| That is scary! I had a similar experience with a bum. He didn't ask for money, or demand my phone, but he did slam his hands on my window (which was closed) and yelled at me. I couldn't understand what he was saying as he was drunk. It still was pretty creepy. World cup? Is that soccer? I'm not a big fan, but I hope everyone who goes has a good time!
